Just received this after asking where my coin was. "Good afternoon ******, Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, there have been delays in despatching coins due to the antiquing process used for the coins taking longer than anticipated. We expect to have all orders despatched by 30th of June. Kind regards, ***** ****** Customer Service Officer The Perth Mint Ph (Australia): 1300 663 991 (Overseas): +61 8 9421 7218 F: +61 8 9225 5012 W: www.perthmint.com.au"
Not the antiquing process again! Will be interesting to see the quality of finish compared to the previous coin.
Is the antiquing process a case of washing it over with a thin black paint and then rubbing it with a cloth to clean off the high points, leaving the black paint in the creases? Probably takes a while for the paint to dry and they might give it a clear coat over the top. I have a couple of medallions with 'antiquing" and it might be the same thing, looks pretty naff but I guess it does give the coin a bit more 'depth'.
"antiquing" - The use of flour thrown in a sleeping victims face to make them appear to be a dusty old antique http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vx_nJo7Fzg
I hope theres a bit more delay and the PM would agree to ship me the next Disney coin within the same shipping cost
I have mine - collected last week from Perth Mint (saves the postage). Antique finish is very good. No sign of paint runs!
I just got notification yesterday that tracking information had been received by Australia Post. So, should be here this week. It's a little ordinary that overseas purchasers got theirs quicker!
It's quicker to get something delivered to/from overseas via courier than it is to get something delivered locally via Australia post.
Hi Aureus, Stock of this coin is arriving from The Perth Mint to us in three separate shipments. The first shipment has arrived and is currently being sent out to customers. The second shipment left Perth on Friday so should arrive to us in the next day or two, and the last shipment is expected to be despatched from Perth next week. Kind regards, Renee
Isn't there a law about selling stuff without physically being in possession of the stock? Shouldn't there be a "Pre-Sale" notice? You could take 10,000 orders, $179 a pop, $1,790,000. get payment, deposit it in the bank for a month, earn interest and then refund the money a month later, saying sorry, short allocation, out of stock, here's your money back anyway.
