So I take it this is denominated in Gibraltar pounds not British sterling pounds. Not that that matters much as its more about the coin which I like the looks of a lot.
They're not legal-UK tender but it's said that some UK banks will take them at their discretion. The rate is 1:1.
Lucky man. I have fond memories of watching the pre title sequence in the "the Living Daylights" way back in 87. Tim Dalton rocked Gibraltar. Nice coin, nice retro portrait of the queen and great face value. Problem with gib, Scottish, Northern Irish pound notes is that they are not readily accepted throughout the whole uk. Wonder why the royal mint didn't make these.
I'm coming to the hobby from collecting older coins, initially as bullion and recently I bought a job lot of 1oz modern coins including Australian and Gibraltar coins and am now hooked. This latest one looks fantastic and I am now seeing them as art as well a store of value. The Australian mint produces some beautiful examples.
The coin has no date? When you go to exchange it the bank won't pull out some old law saying "legal tender coins must be stamped with the date of production" or something?

Interesting! I had a look on the website and I couldn't see a price for it. I am guessing '20 for 15' doesn't have quite the same ring to it so I am hoping something like '15 for 15' is the plan. I have the Canadian '$20 for $20', and the British '20 for 20', considering the Canadian '$50 for $50' and '$100 for $100' but not convinced that they won't take the mickey and start doing half a dozen of each per year with some stupid theme to them. I wouldn't mind the Gibraltar coin but if they make it too difficult to get hold of I won't worry about it, getting it for 15 direct from the mint is fine but paying 20 to buy it on the secondry market just defeats the whole purpose of swapping paper fiat for an equal amount of silver fiat.
I 've got a couple of the Royal mint 20 for 20 coins from last year. They're going to produce another edition later this year, I've registered my interest on the Royal mint site (only buying if they're 20 though ) Generally I won't buy direct from the RM, I have an aversion to paying through the nose :lol:

Hi I imagine that the local cost will be 15 as they have adjusted the face value to 15 as silver is at a low price during production. Soon as its released at the end of the month I'll keep you posted as to the local cost and how if it come in a capsule,tubes or not.

I really don't think this would count in the '20 for 20' collection as it now looks like a '15 for 37' which doesn't have the same ring to it, plus it is a far more generous amount of silver than the Canadian or English versions.
