I just got the AFR WA Edition from bull_bear.

Was thinking of framing the front page.
Will those framing shop in the Shopping Centre do a good job? Or do I need to go to those collectable/memorabilia shop?

Would there be another alternative to preserve of display the front page?

    Thank You for your feedback.

Framing is relatively inexpensive these days... well worth it for such a once in a lifetime event.

Short of that... go to a discount store, crazy clarks or whatever they're called, where they have large preframed 'chic' iconography... punch out the crap & install your peice.

You should be able to frame this yourself.

In fact, even that precious piece of (sporting, music, etc) memorabilia is a home job.

Stretching a decent artwork (canvas) is a different ballgame.

    Good luck

Bloomst, bear in mind if you want to seriously preserve any printed collectable use a professional framing service and request UV reflective glass. Costs a little more but this inhibits fading of ink/artwork. Also the backing board/base that your paper rests on should be acid-free akin to comic book backing boards.

I've had comics, cels and paintings framed and the extra cost is worth it if you want to protect your investments.

Should be, we go to one at our local Westfield and no complaints. Have a chat to them: If they give a 5 min pitch and sell you an off the shelf product maybe try another; if they start talking about different glasses, frames designs and backing colours/materials then they probably know their craft.

Thinking of doing the same for my copy to.
Pics when you get it framed please :)
Still got a some spare copies if anyone is keen.

Would you frame the whole paper, or just the front page?

Apart from ebay, I think it would depend on the topic.. E.g. WWI and II headlines, find a military enthusiast site,
Elvis or Michael Jackson death headlines.. Find where these fans hangout
"world is fukd" headlines - find where stackers hangout :)

Last painting I got framed set me back around $200.

Non reflective glass, matt board, painted wooden frame.

Stretching a canvas is not that difficult, watch a few Youtubes, buy decent staple gun and get some molding from Bunnings, done a few already, the corners are the hardest part but well within the capabilities of most people.

    Newspapers though...

I have a couple, the two editions which came out on the day Diana died, one slagging her off and the second one saying what a great loss it was.

Never thought of framing them though, they have yellowed a fair bit.

I also bought an English newspaper from 1849, in great condition, yellowed a bit but all in one piece, got it for about $10. Amazing that it has had to be stored for over 150 years and all they got for it was $10, hardly seems worth it but I am glad they did.

    Laminate it.

Put the page on a slightly larger backing board of cardboard.

through the rollers and all done.

frame it or just stick it where you want with blue tac.

it is only a piece of amusing paper.

In that case, just photocopy it, laminate and frame the photocopy and sell the original.

There are plenty of pics online.. just hit print
You don't even need to photocopy the original :)

Just had a look and the newspaper is basically A3 size.

Length is A3 size minus about 1cm
width is A3 size minus about <1cm

So there should be plenty of options for standard A3 frames

I came across this shop a few years ago. They provide a one afternoon framing class, after that you can use their facilities to do your own framing. Materials cost are separate. The class was 150 or 200 or thereabouts including one free frame but that was way back, my memory fails me. I've never done it myself but do like the concept and might try it one day. http://www.framedbyyou.com.au
