Post a pic of your milkiest coin. It might not be Canadian! 1998 colored panda (reverse is OK, just a tiny spot)
I have a milky Somalian somewhere about here but I can't be bothered to scan it, it isn't too bad but bad enough to be annoying.
Don't know why but these 1998 colored pandas get milk spots, especially 5 yuans .. My two sets both with spots but not that heavy Is it 10 yuan or 5 yuan panda?
There's a few droplets on a 10oz PAMP I bought from GS. It's on the sides and corner, didn't notice til a week later. So sad i love that bar, will get some photos.
10 yuan in the pic. The 5 yuan has no spotting at all. BTW the colored pandas were supposedly made by PAMP.
Milk Spots - RCM Wildlife Series I have way more.. just the first couple of rolls i cracked http://galeforcesales.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/milk-spots-rcm-wildlife-series-all-milk.html see the post for more images of milk effected RCM coins
No, it is from cleaning of the dies when traces of the cleaner is left in the die, and gets "baked" into the coin (Borax some say?) Typically a RCM problem, but I also have some spots on some ASE's. Have also seen it on philharmonics and I'm quite sure I have a milky taku somewhere. Spots and toning don't really bother me on generic bullion as long as I can pick them up close to or under spot price. But I would be quite mad if my lunars started to develop spots..
Absolutely. I'm glad I know this. I'm on a mission to collect the whole lunar II series of 10oz. Not going to be cheap but worth obtaining them in the long run I think. I'm also collecting 1oz but ill prob start grabbing some historic special 5oz too My ultimate goal is to he hold of a few 1oz gold coins. In time ill get some
I have found the perfect way to clean milk spots off coins. It came by accident as in order to clean particularly dirty coins, I got into the habit of swallowing a coin with each meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Being pretty regular, 18 hours after each meal I retrieved the coin and voil, the coin was immaculate. I tried the same with toned and milk spotted coins, perfect result. I strongly recommend this process, however, avoid the 5 ouncers and above!
My camera is no good at macro images, so no reason to include just one coin.. The RCM coins are mostly polar foxes, the ASE coins are 2012's All bought at spot because of the lactose so I'm happy Source:
