or anybody else for that matter. with sticky tape covering 100% of the tube. one huge selling point for these is that is has a tamper evident security seal. took me ages trying to slowly peel that tape off the seal with out breaking the seal. if i took it off normally both seals would have ripped. i took it off as carefully as i could but the seal came up in places and i had to try stick it back down and make it look normal but they were still damaged. no sticky tape on the seals..
That's a huge selling point for these? I'd have left the sticky tape on the seal if it's that big of a deal. They're just trying to ensure the tubes don't burst open and damage the coins as that has happened before. Did you email/call them first to discuss your disappointment?
yeah, its like selling lunars or kooks in a "full roll" or sealed monster box. the whole straight from the factory, no one has ever touched them thing is huge. and these come with a factory seal. so it would be a bit more odd to sell these in a full tube without a seal.
That is absolutely UN-acceptable. Sellers "must" ensure that packaging is perfect and seals remain intact. You should get a refund! Sorry to see such a mess ego2spare. Thanks for sharing.
im going to open one and put them all into airtites because its....well it might as well not have a seal. the other is just "ok" definitely not a SS seller more of an ebay seller lol. lol why did u send them back?
When you took them out of the tube, were any coins scratched since they didn't have individual airtites? Isn't it obvious? Probably because it had packing tape all over. Instead of opening it, he sent them back and now you had to deal with it lol
Sorry, this issue was not noticed until some tubes had been sent packed with tape to prevent the tube lids coming off. We appreciate the value in a mint condition product, especially a first of series that could prove extremely popular in the collectors market in future. We are happy to replace these for you. Look for some fine tuning of future tube designs...
So the new tube design with security stickers will have lids that don't fall off, bottoms fall out, and sides that don't open like a garage door? And generally don't need sticky tape to hold everything together, except the security sticker.
Why is SOOO much tape needed. I get angry enough when I purchase something from ebay and it is all taped up like that, shouldn't need to wear out a pair of scissors to access my package. I would really try to return and get a replacement though, I would be skepticle buying mint tubes from someone if the seal was like that
If you wrap the tubes first with stretch plastic the kind used for packing(comes in a roll) and then a bit of tape it works great.
When little or no tape is used a percentage of tubes will break open in the mail. Taping the tubes is required to protect the coins. Wrapping them in plastic first is a work around but wasteful especially with the environmental cost of plastic packaging materials. Tubes like those used for Britannias are secure in transport without tape but not others. Having a sticker on the lid means extra packaging to protect the sticker too...
