I was given several little jade stones decades ago. They are meant for rings.

They were perfect when I received them but developed micro imperfections/hairline cracks inside them over the years. I don't understand why as they were never knocked about, hardly touched in fact.

Do they worth a pizza? Can I throw them out?

I also received some old carved jade things, does anyone know where to send for evaluation? (preferably in Melbourne)

    Thanks.

Not sure about jade, but I know that opal can get fractures if they dry out too much. It was recommended that opals should be washed (wetted) occasionally.

I wouldn't throw them out. Someone would like them. Try listing them here.
I had a large chunk of jade that got cut into a pendant at lightning ridge a while ago. It looks nice. Your pieces would look great set into a ring.

Natural Stones does actually have hairlines.
It's all comes to colours. Variation of greens is much preferable for Jade, Chrysoprase , also other green stones.
    How many carats it weigh?

About $2-$5/ carat for them in that size. Retail a touch more when you buy loose stone.
Too small for pendant, ideal for a ring. Imho.

Good quality Chrysoprase you will get more. Also other green stone like Malachite
    Many would love them too.

Real jade is rare and very expensive, but we call too many things some sort of jade these days.
If you have hairline cracks inside them most likely you don't have real jade.
Jade should feel cold to touch, relatively heavy for its size, and very hard; it will scratch glass.
