I'm concerned for my privacy and security, although I have some good security in place for my goods I don't want to show my name to the sender. The only option here I can think of is paypal. I already have a PO box and would like to have the return address there but the people buying from me, especially over ebay/gumtree shouldn't see my real name. f2f is preferred although this may not give me a very wide option. I'm after low premium silver after I sell some of my other bars.
Paypal charge a fee, and maybe if you (since you suggested to use paypal), pay the fee...maybe people willing to use?
If you don't give your name, won't DD between banks be fine? They'll have your BSB and account number, but nothing identifyable without a court order. I give my first name and AusPost parcel locker details out. Might be possible to work out my address, but the thief would be better of stealing my HiFi and electronics rather than my silver.
HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT I go out of my way to avoid using it Just what the world need is another flipper
In same position as you, electronics may fetch more money than the house I currently keep a small portion of silver in. The fact is people think stackers have a lot to steal and the risk of provicating a break in isn't worth the lack of security.
I believe some members accept paypal gift (buyer pays the fee). But as for disclosing your name I don't think paypal is your answer, as your details can still be accessed via paypal transaction history to the buyer/seller. Suggest sticking to F2F trades at Melbourne meets if your concerned with privacy and security. Maybe even do a swap with spannermonkey - his low premium silver for your bars I'm sure the Melbourne guys meet up on a regular basis and have some great deals at their meets
You can use bitcoin as a vehicle for payment. No real identity is shown, but it'll be more hassle to the seller if he converts crypto to fiat later.
Use "Savocado" as DD account name, the transaction will still go through, I use aliases all the time.
However, the banks will only use this field as a reference if manually looked at. So potentially the sender could phone their bank and say the transaction was a mistake of numbers. Without your name in the field they could reverse the payment without notice at a later stage. You could use your first name and the letter of your last to avoid this.
I took bitcoin as payment for some kilo bars back when it was under $100 but did that more as a gamble as I wanted some bitcoin. It paid off.
