We are all humans and we all make mistakes, put yourslef in his place for a moment I'm sure you won't like to sell something for a loss because of a mistake and to be called stupid in the same time.

IMHO I can see a 'dispute' brewing.

It's obvious he's made a mistake. And because it's so obvious you're unlikely to win.

All you will get is a record of a 'dispute' and no coins

    lose/lose senario

if I was the seller I would face palm myself and just accept the mistake. not raise a dispute over it.
however I accept the consequence of my own actions, others don't.
this reminds me of the feedback someone left on a sale when they had paid 10x the value of the items. the buys stated that they had "accidently put an extra 0 , well that's ebay" and paid the price.
I thought it was a big man that accepts such a big mistake
lucky you for getting the coins but I wouldn't gloat over it

I've made MANY mistakes as a seller.
I just suck it up as my mistake, and eat it.
This is they way I've always run my ebay business, I make a mistake means I pay for it.
I expect nothing less from others.

Now, I made a multi-hundred dollar mistake, yes I need to correct it, it can't be swept under the rug....

Seen that happen before, seller would be head banging or gearing up for war.

I reckon a matter of semantics in relation to using + or even using the words plus or including re postage.

Ya reckon your offer was interpreted as seller pays shipping, his was buyer pays? Given that the postage costs support this theory.

Worked in your favor this time, it will happen again and again.

Serendipity...sometimes it just falls onto or is into your lap?

Just because that is your approach to mistakes doesn't mean everybody else has to be forced to have the same approach.

If I had accepted that offer and the seller came back with 'sorry I made a typo' I would have no problem reversing the transaction

Hmm, could be just a harmless mistake.

But surprised no one brought this up... you bidded on some garfield rounds?

Yeah, I'm collecting some silver from the 80's (My Childhood)
Don't worry I have plenty of Kooks too :)

And yes if the seller comes back and asks, I will allow them to fix the mistake.
But as a seller I would just keep quite and eat it LOL

    Everywhere...simultaneously
Whether one calls it stupidity or mistake....makes no difference. The $ difference is so small that I doubt the seller will lose any sleep over it. If the seller does lose sleep, it could then be looked upon as a very inexpensive important lesson...the seller is lucky that it wasn't a much larger sum.

    you're right
when I've started stacking silver, I've noticed a lot: 2 oz of silver and 1/2 oz of gold. (at the time silver was about $30)
pictures were really bad, but the coins were distinguishable, though seller had several negative feedbacks ...
starting price was $1 ... buy it now <ta-daaaaaaaam> $70
and there was a bidding ... I just bought it for $70.
yeap, I've got 2 oz of silver, and 1/2 oz coin was gold one ... yahoo!!!

since that day I've got cursed into buying these shiny metals ... But no palladium, no platinum, just silver and gold
if I didn't buy them back then I'd buy platinum and palladium by now, at least 1 gr ... :(

Yea, exactly what I would do too. My idea of a trade is that both sides are happy with it. Especially in the case of an error. Business is not taking advantage of others mistakes. Business is cooperating with others, as to come to a greater combined result, just like division of labor on any scale is.

Like I said I have no issues if they contact me with the mistake.
But I doubt they will. (I know I would not as a seller)
Item just got marked as shipped and no other communication from them so far...

There should be honour among gentlemen. Old fashioned concept I know but I would point out the mistake to the seller.

I get tons of ebay offers. You just have to read the offer very carefully, the amount of times I have tried to be screwed over is unreal. lol Worst time to check is when your tired/before bed. We are only human after all.
