Hi Stackers, Hoping someone can help - have recently picked up a 1999 Koala carded 1oz and a few 1966 unc rounds... Question is what premium (if any) do these items go for beyond bullion value? IMO 1oz=$35 and 1966=$11...but for 12 year old Koala and unc 1966's I don't know? I'm a oz stacker so don't have attachment to specical or 'old silver'... Does anyone need this Koala for a collection? Happy to neg somthing... regards Ag
I can personally take a 1966 from this : To this : The 1966 isn't hard to make it look basically 'as UNC' minus a few scratches. I have no qualms buying the more dirty coins at a reduced rate and cleaning them myself.
For bullion it doesn't matter if they're cleaned in this fashion. There's no true "mint lustre" when cleaned like this, so numismatically they are identifiable from genuine UNC coins. I clean my 1966 like this as well.
1999 Koala? Thought the koala silver wasn't started until 2007 ? Or you have a medallion - ie. not a coin as such ?
The Koala was originally produced by Perth Mint as a generic round before the coin version was released. I'd price it somewhere slightly above a regular generic round - but certainly not the same as a coin Koala.
Thanks for everyones replies... Auspm - certianly know how to clean! So uncirculated doesn't really add much? OK good to know Cheers Ag
