For those stackers who also have purchased coins with low mintages, what is the lowest URS value you have ever owned legitimately? More info: http://www.stacksbowers.com/NewsMed...48/Revisiting-the-Universal-Rarity-Scale.aspx After posting this, I realized that a better category for this discussion would have been "Numismatics". Can this thread be moved there somehow?
URS 12 I believe, I dont think I have any lower because I can't find perth mints 2013 mintages, but if it was something worth anything in the year 2035 they'll just punch out a shit load of them and stamp 2013 on it as they do
12 is fantastic! I have a couple of 12's as well. The Perth Mint is not supposed to produce proof coins after the close of a particular year, right? Or do I have that wrong? I know the US Mint has strict mintage regulations on proof coins but I don't think there have been any US Mint coins produced in the past 100 years which would have a URS value less than 13. .
I think Perth mint only got away with the kooks because they are a bullion coin. But seriously it should be illegal to stamp a coin outside of the year given say a month or two each side. I think you're right that they cannot back date proofs but I may be wrong. They did have loop holes for different packagings but they closed them up by saying the must declare a total mintage
well according to that site I own a URS 1 and a couple or urs 3's and so on where do I collect my prize
URS-0 Well it was a URS-0 until now, as far as every dealer in Australia was concerned no 50 Mills notes like this were thought to exist. There was 6 x 5 Mills, 6 x 10 Mills and 3 x 20 Mills recorded examples but no one had ever seen a 50 Mills example as pictured below.. I've had it for 8 years and never showed it to anyone before. They were produced for Australian officers in 1912 to be used in the soldiers mess..
I just moved upto a URS-10 with a double frosted ram that I bought back in November 2012 for spot @32.65
Well it's not a case of poverty, as I stated my URS 10 came at spot price thanks to the guys at goldstackers and their occasional sales, which is very rare in the bullion world
haha yeah just mucking around. I mostly stack low premium stuff, and my "14" was not all that expensive.
I have some QE2 pre-decimal proofs that would be URS-12. If you're talking varieties I'd have some 7's or 8's. If you're talking weird and spectacular errors I'd have some 2 or 3's.
