After the massacre in the share market in 2010/11 of the last 2 years in gold stocks, I realised fundamental analysis is great for certain things. So since last year I have been studying Tech analysis and how to combine it with Fundamental analysis.
So no i havent been using the moving averages all along. And using m/a alone is not a great idea. The guys I have been learinging from use a combination of Fundamental analysis, BigPicture analysis, Candlestick analysis, 200dma, 50dma, Slow Stoch, RSI, MACD and Volume - and teach to wait untill the indicators present a better probability by agreeing.

Im not a professional (obviously) - im learning, so like anything on SilverStackers consider opinions as opinions, nothing as advice and your money as your own.
As for your apology, no worries.

Silver Sanchez, good tip on the profit taking; I had not put in any stop-losses on KCN or NCM and before I knew it I was way down the rabbit hole.

However as for the 200dma, I only look at the overall Gold Price 200dma as a whole, rather than a specific stock.

Still looks like some good upside to me.

As long as its kept in mind that Gold and Gold Stocks are not by anymeans the same. But if the metal is bullish, the (better) stocks are bullish. If you do your fundamental analysis of the stocks, you could expect that fundamentally strong company would correlate with the underlying metal price.... that is if the market is operating sanely.

Just a little thankyou to Silver Sanchez for reminding me to take a bit of profit on KCN.

Certainly did not forsee the 22% drop in KCN today, but am happy to have lightened my exposure.

The posted their yearly results showing a 300M+ loss, mainly from an impairment loss and write down of the Challenger mine, also no dividend.

Their main mine still has a really low gold cost, and the guidance for next year is ~200k ounces, similar to last two years. I think this could be a decent buying opportunity for anyone bullish on gold over the short-medium term.

    You are not alone!

I was tempted to cash in some profits on this one, however didn't - it now fits in much better with the majority of my portfolio which is soundly in the red

Everyone has been quiet on KCN for a month, nothing to cheer about recently.

What does everyone think of this announcement of the pending 49% sale/share listing of their Thai subsidiary.

Obviously it will bring in some capital for that operations' expansion, but as a shareholder I'm annoyed at the dilution of my stake in the Thai operation.

This was a plan from over a year ago, a way to keep ownership without all the xenophobia of the Thai beurocracy
The Thai Baht is pretty stable - the money will be good

Its only for the existing mine not the exploration or expansion land - as far as I know. So its like turning it into a royalty play so they avoid the taxes and the demands for bribes. Working in Thailand when you are non-Thai is alot harder.

I think this is a positive move, and could fast track new mines.
