Hey ya'll Are there proof and non proof versions? Specifically, is the 2004 available in proof finish? The one I have is kind of like the finish of a uncirculated US Silver Eagle. Its the only one that looks different from the others. the 2005-13 ones I have are prooflike.
So who is the owner of this site? He plagiarizes others work. http://worldsilverbullion.weebly.com/rwanda.html Original: http://www.squidoo.com/african-rwanda-wildlife-silver-coin-bullion-series
I just saw the video from Gainesville. I think it interesting to share and see any comments on this ( especially High Relief and 4 coins set) http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/video/the-coin-explorer/19/somalian-silver-elephant.aspx
HR 1 oz coins, world set? this would include koala kangaroo, kookaburra...elephant but not lunar @ gilded coins are nice to have, they are more addicting than the bu coins gild must be only on the animals, nothing else.
I sold all my gilded ... kind of souvenir while it should look like coin not a big fan of those additions like gold-plated or color to the coins any idea where I can get 2007 and 2008 that are reasonably priced?
Yes, gilded version is nice to have. I agree with worldbubble those additions ( gilded or color) take away the pureness of the original coin I saw BU price is increase as years go by.... I wonder what everyone think of one oz High Relief elephant with mintages only 1000 ( is 2013 the first release for HR series ? ) http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/pro...ilver-somalian-african-elephant-999-pure.aspx 4 coins elephant set: http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/pro...hant-4-coin-set-375-asw-with-box-and-coa.aspx
btw, if one takes a look at early colored elephants - they are priced lower than usual ones just food for thought please, tell me, where is this come from? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Somali...0343008?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item20d90b31e0
Acme and alor (or anyone else) do you know the mintage of your colored and gilded Elephants? Especially the 2004-2008 years. Thanks for everyone who posted such great pics. I REALLY want that gilded 2004. Magnificent. It's very cool to see the Zambia Elephants. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Bavarian Mint minted the Zambia African Wildlife coins (1999-2003) than struck a similar deal with Somalia beginning the Somalia Elephant African Wildlife series (2004 to present) which has become quite popular due to many factors. Before the Elephant Somalia had the Somalian Monkey coin. Link is here- http://worldsilverbullion.weebly.com/the-african-monkey.html . A US company minted the Somalia Monkey coins. The Monkey coins were not attractive and poorly minted.
I didn't know monkeys were minted in US ... their quality is not worse than that of early elephants (I have both and can judge looking at condition)... not many survived ... many were not kept as they should have kept, thus there's spot, tiny hairlines, toningn ... don't forget, they are almost 15 year old coins P.S. have 1999 for sale on eBay, if anyone interested
the gilded most likely are after market seen too many elephants coins, some are great work of art, but the monkey were not good work, there should be a re-design and hence a new mint.
Mintage for BU Somalia Elephants for 2004-2013 are below: 2004- 5k 2005- 5k 2006- 5k 2007- 5k 2008- 5k 2009- 130k 2010- 120k 2011- 170k 2012- 80k 2013- 140k I'm still trying to find mintage numbers for the Zambian Elephants and the gilded and colored coins. Were any Zambian coins gilded or colored at the Bavarian Mint? Anyone know?
If anyone is interested I have some Somalian Elephants for sale along with some Zambian Elephants. The Zambia Elephants are the true precursor series to the Somalian series. Available are: 2004-2008 and 2010-2014 BU Somalia Elephants 2000 proof, 2000 colored, 2002 colored, and 2003 proof Zambia Elephants
