Just like Qantas......More 're-structuring' in the process's before the final close in 2016......I would assume this means more job losses ahead soon...........Wonder what HSV are going to do? If it was'nt for the Fringe Benefits Tax incentives which Labor actually threatened to completely remove who the hell would buy these cars anyways?
I did'nt say they make anything....What i said was they are also 're-structuring'......Just like Ford and Holden are in the coming years! Edit.....Just re spelled to Qantas.....My fault!
TheEnd mate, you need to pick yourself up and get a little bit of drive. All these constant posts regarding how shit the economy is doing can't be any good for your head. It's like you are trying to convince yourself that you are right. ....................Here is a news flash........................... The Australian Economy was on some pretty sweet drugs leading up to 2007. It NEEDED to go into rehab. It got a new parole officer in 2007, but instead of rehab it got fed more and more of the good stuff straight into the vein. Sooner or later, the good stuff is going to become less and less effective and the high is going to end and the patient is going to go through some severe withdrawals before it gets better. ..................................... End news flash.............................. Now what are you going to do about it?
Got a 76 escort ghia 4 door full of rust but drives no problem if anyone wants to swap for silver or gold has no rwc
And who can afford a German car? I've heard a few times that BMWs are now designed to last ONLY 10 years after that GET RID of them or they cost shitloads ........... I'll stick to my to old EF-AU Falcons thanks! Also just confirmed that the FPV employees will be phased into other Ford Oz jobs.......Not sure how thats going to work out considering Ford are closing in 2016?
I did'nt post it to hang shit on Ford, I posted it to show more of the restructuring that is happening......At least the employees ar'nt losing there jobs....yet! Like i said whats going to happen to HSV when Holden go down.......I'll tell you what will happen, they also will close down?
It sucks for people who work there but Ford and GM have lost money and needed tax payer funding for years, close both of them, buy a Toyota, If we are relying on American cars for jobs we are in deep shit. If Dick Smith got Aldi to design a car then build it in Australia as a real national car I may be interested. If it was better than my Cruiser
So much hate. Whenever I drive a FWD Japanese car and drive it in the same manner as a real RWD car, it feels like it's going to spill off the road, by comparison they are so unsteady in corners. All those high riding Thai utes, the ones I've been in are absymal - they're not utes they're trucks worthy of freight, not passenger use. SUVs, please, how does anyone tell their own car apart from the next identical SUV? And all the constant "Japanese cars were better even in the 1970s because they had air con" claims, if that were so, where are all the old Toyotas? Go driving on the weekend and the car enthusiasts seem to be driving Falcons and Valiants and Kingswood utes - the "better" Japanese cars don't seem to have survived the test of time.
That's because all the Toyota's and Nissans are up bush 4WDing, hunting or on the farm still doing what they were designed to do, not being babied by some collector. I have my old landcruiser and would not get rid of it for anything, that thing takes a beating and still comes back for more. For the record I see FAR more European and American cars on the road at the weekend than Australian, MG, Mercedes, Chevy and Ford mostly quite a few much older ones as well. I know this as several family members are collectors as are several friends, and between them they would have proabably 100+ cars, and only 1 or 2 would be old Holden's, plenty of Fords but they are predominantly Mustang's so still not an Australian car. Big Japanese collector car scene out there as well, quite a few early Celica's being babied around.
Apart from talking about commercial vehicles you didn't really address what I said. Nissan 4WDs from the 70's still used? Which models? There are always exceptions, Celicas yes I know some and early Mazda rotaries are popular, but they are just a platform for the rotary engine and fancy coloured custom House of Kolor paint, no one cares about the car itself. Go to MotorEx or Summernats or EasterNats or Powercruise, it's mostly Australian cars 1960s-1980s as well as some Americans. Look at November car shows for NSW http://www.ozshowcars.com/novnsw.htm 23 Ford Day / GM Day 2013 Queanbeyan 23 Car Show 4 Xmas [ Twilight Show ] Harrys Liverpool 24 American Car Nationals 2013 Queanbeyan 24 Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club Shannons Show N Shine Forster 24 WSCC All Badges Charity Swap Meet St Marys 24 Culcairn Classic Car Club Swap Meet & Show N Shine Culcairn 24 EJ - EH Holden Owners of Southern NSW Inc. In 30 years there will be Commodore Nationals like there is Monaro Nationals today and the Monaro Nationals will probably still be going.
I've owned Fords and Holdens and both were rubbish, sure theyre "cool" cars but what a nightmare! 90's Japanese cars are great ... good build quality and go all day long - No car has lasted the trashing of my Celica and none were as wicked as my GTR ;P Got a 96 Honda now, nothing special but damn its good on fuel and gives me no dramas. Ill never own a holden or ford again, seems like it wont be an option for me soon anyway... good riddance. I must say tho, when I was a teenager all I wanted was a Clubsport (can get one now for under 10k ... eww ... )
   German & American "BUILD" cars  All the new Chrysler's you see on the road Made in Hungary including ML Mercs Lower rang BMW's made in South Africa Most parts made in China & assembled in eastern Europe or South Africa
Well thats just not German anymore then is it? VW have just made a massive worldwide recall on ther new 'DSG' transmissions..... And where are the trans made............China lol! The Chinese/Kereoans will NEVER beat the Japs in 100 years!
It gets worse FIX IT AGAIN TONY Now own Chrysler The DSG gearbox saga is worse than that VAG is a lot more than just VW , Porsche Audi & Skoda come under that banner The stupid thing is PORSCHE actually make transmissions for all kinds of other vehicles The Holden 4X4 they released (crossycountry I think it was called ) That has a Porsche gearbox- transfer case
