Hi all, Just joined SS and am looking forward to my first purchases. I am hoping to start on some F2F sales in Adelaide to get my feet wet. I am looking forward to getting in on the auctions once I work out the process for dealing with transactions through the post without getting ripped off. Oh and how to Buzz in quick enough to get the good deals. I am looking at some 1oz Eagles or Maples to get me started and then the Dragons look good. I have had a couple of responses from members to my first post and I am really pleased with the honest help given freely to a newly like myself. Anyhow, happy to be here and looking forward to a long and exciting obsession;-)
Thanks for the welcome guys. I have one question. What's the best way to not get ripped off when buying silver from someone through here? I know a good guide would be the "trade" history of the seller but is there anything else? If I send my money to another persons bank account how can I be sure I am going to get anything. Is it just luck when dealing with someone. Or should you only deal with those that have a huge excellent trade rep? Now that is more than one question but I think you get the idea. I know nothing is 100% safe but I don't want to get burnt if I can help it. Any advice would be welcomed. Cheers.
Go along to one of the monthly meetings in Adelaide; here are the details of the last meeting: http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-44705-adelaide-meet-sunday-22nd-september.html
Ok, so yes F2F at a meet in Adelaide is the best way to go but you guys must buy silver in other ways. Is there a thread that I have missed on the pitfalls of buying silver?
Welcome, we seam to have a few Adeladian stackers comming out of the wood work latley. One pitfall to buying silver is that you'll just want to buy more. The second pitfall is that sure as hens lay eggs you WILL pay too much for a coin one day and kick youself the next, but thats the nature of stacking so roll with it, learn as you go, and don't invest so much in silver that it leaves you sort of fiat for the day to day expenses. The next meet will most likley be the the last meet for this year where we hold an auction. I would suggest doing some research of prices of the most popular coins and bars over the next couple of weeks from the site sponsors and that will give you a good idea of what youe 'should' be paying at an auction. Also investigate the diferance in primuims between rounds and bars. I now favour 10oz bars when I have the spare fiat as the primium is low however I know some adelaide stackers who just can't walk past a Maple even though the per ounce premium is slightley higher. You know who you are. Any way enough of this ramble happy stacking.
