What are your thoughts on these 5 oz pandas? I know the mintage is 50 000 but that isn't exactly low and the price is typically about 2-3x its silver content ATM. If I wanted to buy one I would be interested in the 2013 but the price worries me as I do not know enough about their collector value. Also what are the signs for fakes. Thanks Btw. I've seen one for about $350 cnd and its coming from china.
In Singapore they are going for SGD330-350. Quite a bargain for a proof coin. I am not familiar with pandas, but 2012 and 2011 5 ouncers are going for SGD500.
I personally love the 5oz Pandas and think many of them are sleepers. I have the 2013 5oz on my list for this years purchases. The only other 5oz I have is the ana Panda Metal which is a cool piece in hand. if you like the coin go for it. If you plan to hold for 5+ years I don't see how you can go wrong.
Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. I luv the coin but not to crazy about the price though. For that amount I can get 12 one oz panda or 1 ten oz kooks plus 2 one oz kooks or add a bit more and get 1/4oz gold panda. If mintage was 5-10k I would def get one but at 50k for that amount, I'm not to sure. I'm gonna have to sleep on this for a while. Thanks again.
If anyone interested, i can organise a group buy and ship directly from china using EMS(not economic shipping). My price is USD295(postage included) . If more than 10 pcs orders, i can give USD290. I am the seller in singapore. Yrh0413 mentioned that singapore price is going for SGD330(around USD265). It was referring to my price list.
Just to clarify, for the group buy/EOI I'm conducting, I'll be physically going down to the office of PandaAmerica in SG to look at the coins before buying them. Not really comfortable buying without knowing the condition of the coins.
So there's two competing group buys on these?? If buying from pandaamerica---they will have been picked over for sure--count on it
How did this turn into a group buy thread? No offense but both of you should open your group buy thread.
Not competing. Altima and I are doing group buy without profit intention. My price is lower and using faster shipping method. No profit made if selling at that price. Since I am new in this forum, I am trying to earn more positive feedback by helping the members here.
My experience is good with the 5 oz 2012 panda beautifull coin in the flesh i sold it with a nice profit and bought the 30 % (cheaper) 2013 5oz direct from china (my first china order) it was perfect no other words its a no brainer these coins even with 50,000 mintage will bring a premium if u got the patience.
Dear Justfishin, I can give assurance that all the 2013 China Panda 5oz Silver Proof Coins are not PRESCREEN before. 100% Mint Condition, Sealed in Mint Tray of 3. These are purchased from the latest, and also last batch of minting. Regards, PandaAmerica SG
As a collector of 5oz Panda, I suggest you wait a bit. Based on the following: 1) A 2008 (10k mintage) went for just over 250 sends a very clear signal how much demand there is 2) Since 2012 or even 2011 issues, market price has fallen substantially over issue price
It's still not a bargain if price is still dropping. However, $295 isn't bad at all though. Ive been eyeing the 5 oz year of the horse pearl series after seeing how much the last 2 coins are doing. But then again the horse is $100/oz.
Agreed. Many ppl asked me about my opinion on 5oz silver panda. As a seller, I can only say: Buy only if you like. If want to buy 2013 5oz, now is the right time. The price is rebounding around 10% from lowest point in China recently. Dont buy 2014 5oz when newly released by the mint. The premium would be ,usually, higher than 2013.
