Just wondering what people think - any years allowed My 2 fave Kooks are 2009 & 2012 My 2 most un-fave Kooks are 2013 (HORRENDOUS!) & 2014
Wow, amazing how many did not like the 2013. I guess folks are thinking they look more cartoonish. I tend to agree. My fav hands down is 2008 and I like the 2003...heck I love them all, and these are my main bullion. Must wish they'd make their birds a bit more classic looking. 2013 and 2014 suck wind.
In order 2008, 2009, 2002 (sorry Scyb but I love the continent of Australia in the background), 2011, & 2004.
Best 2008, 2011 and 1999-2001. Worst 1997, 2006 I dont think 2013 and 2014 is bad at all as many here seems to think. 2014 is really nice! And i cant understand how the 1997 can be higher rated than 2013-2014.
Beauty in the eyes of the beholder. . I guess that is what makes the world turn. I personally don't mind the 2006, especially considering there are only 87,000 of them. I have a slew of them. Only 84,000 sets can be made (lowest mintage 2004)...them ain't a lot of sets, especially as coin collecting hopefully grows. I know I have a complete set. I'm sure many others do too.
my favourites are: 1998, 2000, 2008, 2009 worst designs: 1990, 1992, 2013 all down to personal taste. Folk rave about the 1990 design but I think its pretty crap.
if all is true, then the re-mint won't happened  still got people buying them. if you really think about it...if it is so bad, would not sold out anyway love and hate of kooks
Best design based on how rare the coin is?! LOL. Personally having started Kook collecting 18 years too late the re-mints were a bonus. I probably wouldn't have bothered collection all of them if I have to pay the numismatic premium. I can see why there was a lot of sour grapes from folks who bought the original coins hoping to flip them latter and make a profit. A lot more people will enjoy early Kook's thanks to the re-mints.
Amen to that! Thanks to the remints I got a couple thousand oz's of all kinds. I don't agree with their remint policy, and would have been mad as heck, but someone else's anger, was my happiness, thank you APMEX and PM. hehehe. And if not for these recent expo Pandas I purchased, I would have continue to stock up the 2003's. Love those things live and in person. pics do not do that year justice IMHO. Hopefully I can get another roll before they are gone.
2008 is the best design by far. Best coin to speculate for a future capital gain is the 2008 designed Kookaburra dated 2009! Confused? There's only 8,589 coins in existence! http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2009_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins120813V3.pdf They come from the "The Australian Kookaburra 20th Edition Coin Sets" and...to find individual coins is very rare. Cheers H PS Notice that Perth's web site / pdf page is highlighted for this coin!!! That's because they can't work-out if the coin is specimen...proof or a bullion replica! If you look at the collector site they say the coins are proof which is BS. So...if you can find one...get a 2008 designed Kook dated 2009!
