not stellar prices but not lowball as you have to factor in that they are a business and they have to make money even with overheads.

Lets use the first one as an example.

    A 2103 H/R 5 oz Koala for $200?

Can you get one for less than $600 much less find one?

Is that not a low ball offer?

Haha yeah. You have a point there. But APMEX has a lot of overheads and margins and whatnots.

Or maybe they're just trying to get lucky and rip you off. Hehe

I'll be honest - they're a mixed bullion/numismatic company, and the offers reflect that. They buy low and sell high. Coins like the example you just gave are not bullion, so their expected premium for holding the stock is going to be a lot higher than say Somali elephants that would just get treated as low-premium rounds if they turn up and are not saleable as BU and turned over almost immediately (they're trusting that your descriptions match their expectations).

A low-turnover coin with high premiums is going to get a much lower offer than a bullion coin that can be bought at spot, and sacrificed to the random 1oz round bucket if it turns out to be less than pristine.

Dealer buyback prices on numismatics are never going to be stellar.

And I think I am safe in saying I can beat a major dealer's offer :)

The group buy thing is piquing my interest. I was going to ebay it, but I'd rather split the difference with my fellow Stacker's instead of giving the profit to ebay/paypal. Im hesitant to sell overseas, but the shipping cost savings with a group buy makes it seem like a win win situation for all of us.

Ill get my paypal account going soon and upgrade my account then... I need to read up on how this all works.

    Give me a few days.

and thanks for the encouraging replies.

Please don't make the mistake of calling them a numismatic company, they are not even remotely close to that. I would consider them a company that deals in high value bullion and low value bullion, because to them everything is bullion.

The prices seem high for selling to a dealer, higher than you could here selling to a dealer.

Spot on. When I sold/sell my bullion to them (back at 35.00 an ounce) they were more than fair. Although, since the shake down from about 28.00...forget about it. I made much more on eBay. Haven't sold any bullion in a long time. Just pulling a stark, and getting rid of my thang colored...LOL.
