Our view is that he should really consider having a diverse portfolio of Silver, Gold and Platinum as each of the 3 metals have different market reactions. What is the forum's opinion on diversifying your bullion investment? Or was Uncle Scrooge right and focus purely on gold?
I used to dream about owning Scrooge's bank vault as a pre-teenager. From memory think he did also own silver but I know he was gold heavy. Diversification, of course its a no brainer.
Being that Uncle Scrooge's money bin is his stored reserve wealth, gold coins only, no diversification. He may own silver mines as investments but his stored wealth is much safer from the Beagle Boys as gold in a smaller, stronger more efficient money bin. Storing lots of silver in huge money bins sucks, too much space needed if you are a scrooge. Better to sell it, have good investments instead and reserves of gold. "If we assume that the imminent financial collapse was met with the above described Gold Backed SDR, then what use will Silver be to a financial system, given that Gold can and will be repriced at whatever level it is required (negating the need for Silver to enter the Financial System altogether) in order to back a new debt cycle? The answer is patently obviousNONE!" http://twoshortplanksunplugged.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/the-reality-of-goldand-silver-in.html
Also watched it in full, great fun. As a kid i loved Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck comics. If anyone is interested Fantagraphics are reprinting the original, classic Barks stories from the golden age of the 40s to the 60s. They are collected in hardcover and have been cleaned up/remastered. Thanks Clawhammer.
