Just received the set. I found the coins to be beautiful and well done. Sorry my pics aren't better. I do the best I can with what I have.
Beautiful indeed!! Edit. Didn't want to discourage anyone from stacking these...they are beautiful. I just haven't had good luck with elephents. :-(
I haven't any spots on my Elephants. I know they can get them but a lot of the modern BU coins get them. I'm very careful with storage whether it makes any difference or not. The older Elephants I have have shown no problems.
Thanks, nice set! Mine are on a slow boat to the US I think. Does the COA also have a number for the particular set, like #499 of 500? Not sure if that is normally done for sets like this or not.
The set isn't numbered. I wish it was. That would be pretty cool. It will be interesting to see if the set goes up in value after a year or three. I look forward to hearing (or reading) your opinion when you get yours. Overall I was impressed and I'm overly critical.
I pre-ordered them for 90 euro including european VAT per set. 45 per coin for a 500 limit set didn't seem too unreasonable. plus they're really beautiful!
Got my set today, from an eBay seller. I like them and they appear to be of a very high quality. Don't have many coins with color on them but must say these look great together. The case on mine is a bit dinged up but otherwise quite happy with them. An interesting note, my family normally does not get too excited with Dad's latest must have silver buy but everyone really liked these. Thanks purple88 for turning me on to this set!
Hellcat6 the same thing happened to me with my family. I left the set on the kitchen table and came back in and everyone was gathered around the coins staring at them and commenting. All were impressed.
@Hellcat6: thanks! I'm very fond of my little herd I think these coins might do very well price-wise in the future. They have all the ingredints: * popular series * nice design * good finish (no milk spots or anything) * 500 limit! worldwide! (as long as they don't pump out the "day" coin seperately as they do the "night" coin with 5000 mintage) I also don't think many of the buyers will want to sell them very soon.
Today i recibe mine. Inside the capsule the coin have a black foam to save the coin to loose inside the square capsule. I think if the black foam is secure to no contain pvc or other quimic to affect the coin
Hi, new in here. I just bought the set because the one is not available by itself and the mintage is so low on the set. I have the complete run from 1999-2014 from Zambia/Somalia. Working on getting as many proofs as I can. Problem is that some sellers list them as proofs but they are BU. Just bought a 2005 proof double sealed. Hope it looks as good as the price. $175. on Ebay.
the one you bought, was it $175.51? I was following this auction.... are you sure it is proof? It says "in proof condition" but i assumed it was BU in top condition, hence the seller calling it proof condition.
