hello. I have been lurking the forum for about six months now and have finally decided to register. Im slowly learning about silver....i dont think i made any huge mistakes since i started. I like to research things before i dive into them, but at silver this low i jumped into ASE's to start my stack a little while back.

    i have a few questions.

my first buy actually was a few years back when silver was about $30+ i bought just over 30oz in junk silver with some very old dollar bills. Did i do alright? i knew nothing about silver, i was just interested in coins. i bought it from a friend of my friend, and when i went back to buy all that i had looked at earlier, i didnt think i would have gotten cheated some stuff that was taken out of the bag. i should have double checked. I was a little upset but my cost per oz was about $23. I got around 25 Morgan and peace dollars, a tube of mercury dimes, nickels, and quarters. I also got a some barber halves.

my next question is. If you buy a bag of junk 90% say off of APMEX what are the chances of getting rare dates or any other coin valuable for any reason? do they process them out?

    thanks

    Hello and welcome,
Can't see how you made a mistake stacking silver,
As for buying bags of junk coin in the US, I have never done it but think it has been well picked, but good luck

Welcome RC129.I'm from virginia,so its good to see another yank here.lol.Anyway all of the major us dealers do cherry pick all the bags of coins,so there is little chance that you will discover a valuable coin in the bag.But its ok because you are buying silver, not numis coins when you buy silver 90%.Start off slowly, making small purchases here and there, read forums like this one,DONT go into debt to buy silver, dont expect to make a financial killing in six months, and you will be fine.

nice welcome to the forum. I think when you look back 5 years from now you will be happy with your first purchase. Right now maybe not so much but just hold tight and lower your average right now if the capitol is available to invest.

try some .999 Silver you will get addicted like many of the other members on this board.
