When I was much younger I worked through an agency until I found out they were charging the client double what I was earning.

Yep took me nearly 2 weeks to get a start , they like to get a few people together before anyone starts
They don't like staggered starts with newbies

Well the stresses of money can be very bad indeed......Even though this new job doesn't pay the best at least i'm working and earning enough to pay the bills and taxes etc etc.....Plus its HSV cars ......You should see all the new VF GTS's that are there already!

They reckon the orders are booked until April next year already!

Glad to hear you got a decent job. If you are looking at getting into the mines you might be able to pick up some shutdown work. Over here in WA pretty much anyone with a mech trade would get casual shutdown work. I'd just suggest doing the occasional shutdown and get some mining experience. You could probably work it around your current job too.

    good luck TE.

As an aside I took the boss down to Geelong to shout her a nice lunch at the Valley inn pub, and to ply her with strong drink!.

    Didn't work!

Anyway, they have a TAB on site and I had a look at it. It had about 15 men and two women at the tables etc, placing bets and having a drink.

ALL were between the ages of about 25 to 45! We left at 2PM and they were still there.

hey you cant automatically write those people off, i frequently work odd hours, full time, i pop into these places every now and again and while some are drop kicks, alot are working people, just because we dont work monday to friday 9-5 doesnt mean we dont work

True, but my thought was that they were all of the age where they would normally be at work.

If they were shift workers I would have thought they would be home in bed. Anyway it was just an observation, not a 100% valid survey.

lol again. so what age qualifies for a 9-5 job over shift work? and then theres the other thing, out of ALL the time you have, you either spend it in bed or at work?

I....I work a 19 day monthly roster where I pick and choose which days off I want. Sometimes I'll take 5 or 6 in a row
