So 2012 Dragons had a great secondary market result for flippers [it realised $80 for months after release], the 2013 snake was a flop, what is your perspective for the 2014 horse? My guess is a flop, same as last year. I again forecast secondary market saturation and declining interest in silver investing will keep the prices low. I'm guessing that $45 will be the high point for flippers of 1oz bullion horse. Mr.G
Doubt it will go to 80 dollars. Still no bites even when some are selling for 38/39 AUD per coin. Maybe they're waiting for the mania to subside so prices will drop? Edit: Oops one thread just sold!
Snake only flopped as spot crashed over the time frame, I think the horse released at a spot of 26, has a good chance of returning good premiums if spot goes up or if spot goes down should hold its value better than bullion.
snakes are not as popular an animal. i was in HK around chinese new year for the year of the snake and shop keeps were complaining about the drop in sales of lunar themed products. granted it was the year immediately after the dragon which is always popular. the horse however is a more appealing animal than the snake. my guess is that $55-$60 would be a par price on fleebay once they sell out at the mint and dealers, and then slowly recede to around the $40 level, more if spot continues to move up.
If you bought snakes when spot was in the 30's and snake was around high 30's to 40. When spot dropped to 20, the snakes were still selling at around 36-38. If you bought bullion, bullion was selling anywhere from 22-24. Percentage wise you were better off with the lunars.
Haha good one Here's another "scary" pair... Source:http://www.chinahistoryforum.com/index.php?/topic/32699-chinese-hell-guards-hei-bai-wu-chang-niu-tou-ma-mian/ Sorry tht we sidetrack thread topic. I believe the Horse will outperform the Snake. Horse is generally well received in Chinese mythology. "No Horse Run!' is a local colloquial frequently use to describe an exceptionally good/favorable outcome, something like that....
Looks like the horse 3-coin proof set is not commanding the prices as that of the dragon set when the dragons series was first released. Saw 2 sets sold on ebay at around A$450 yesterday.
