Delete if such a thread exists. Rate the gold and silver Perth coins out of 10. Gold: 8/10 Silver: 7/10 I think the designs are kind of mediocre, expected better. The mane on the silver horse drinking looks odd. The recent Palau horse was much better
2014* And I think they look pretty good. The gold would have to be the best gold S2 design so far. Gold: 8.5 Silver: 8
Having seen both designs in the flesh, the silver proof really stands out - and the gold bullion just "pops". Much better than the snake IMO.
So that's the design?! Good thing I didn't break any rules just to see that before. I'm not impressed. :/
they both look better in the flesh to be honest. When I saw the proofs i liked the silver and loved the gold. The gold looks, well less aggressive in real life. (this was the proof version)
Well, to be honest I was comparing the coins to the tokelau horses on YouTube. The horses are much bigger and have a really nice shine on them. I suppose I need to see them in the flesh before making a final call. (I did say prematurely that one of the tokelau horses had a broken neck!)
Ossie were you talking about the proof or bullion gold? Gold 7 Silver 7.5-8.0 First impression, I am disappointed. The nature doesn't look natural, especially the clouds on the gold coin and the water ripples on the silver coin. And the shading and the eyes on the horses seem strange to me. Hopefully, my opinion will change as I get used to the designs. I am sure that I will still get some of each, but I am not sure now how many. Edit: Showed the photos to a client who is an interior designer and he loved them.
only so-so. Tiger is best in this series so far. Not impressed with 2 horses but 2 animals has been a common thread this series, Mouse, Ox, Rabbit, all had 2 animals on them.
I'm not impressed much either. Will probably buy few silver ones and they maybe change the opinion. I think there are just many more interesting coins out there. I'm not collecting coins for long time, but I'm already somehow sick of the lunar coins. Tiger II remains my favorite, because I love tigers and because it's my second coin ever purchased. I'm waiting to see Russian Lunar Horse. Russian Lunar looks much more interesting to me. Don't have any, but I'm planning to buy some in near future. It's less pure, but its mintage is way lower. First Lunar from PM is probably better. I have no doubt this coin would be popular, especially among Australians, but as I've said, I've seen so much nicer bullion coins. Then Lunar III would probably have 3 animals and so forth.
