For those who like to buy their coins directly from the Perth Mint. Hopefully Perth will pass on the same deal to the SS dealers. http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/..._Silver_Bullion_Coins_For_A_Limited_Time.aspx Maybe Perth are celebrating the Koala reaching over 1million coins. ????
That's the online retail division offering that discount, which is a separate business unit to the wholesale division the distributors deal with. Usually when the 2014 coins are released the mint will start introducing wholesale discounts (if any).
it says on the site: The table shows investors buying two or more coins will save $1.50 per coin in premium costs, with improved volume discounts available at each subsequent threshold. Investors purchasing 500 coins will benefit substantially with a massive saving of $5.50 per coin. as far as I can see for 500 coins the existing premium was $6.50/coin and now reduced to $4.50/coin.just cannot see the $5.50/coin savings only $2/coin correct me if Im wrong
Not that it's for you to criticise what people are willing to pay, their decision, your site asks C$48 for a silver Grizzly with a mintage of one million....
I was genuinely curious . These can be had at pretty much every dealer for around $3-4 over spot here in Canada. The Grizzly as well as every other Canadian Wildlife coin was obtainable at spot + $3 when it was released. Once the mintage is sold out its up to the market to decide the price and it is indeed valued between $40-$50 here in North America. The Koala is more comparable to the Canadian Maple rather than the Wildlife series.
Is this correct? I thought because the design changed every year the Koala was slightly more collectable. They are also packaged a more like a collectable then pure bullion.
I believe the koalas were always sold at a premium to the Canadian wildlife series - perth mint has some of the most expensive bullion In the world.. But you also get capsules, limited mintages and annual design changes - none of these factors in themselves assure a certain premium over spot.. That variable would be demand. 1for1
About the only people paying $10 over spot for Koalas are tourists buying single coins from the Perth Mint bullion counter. They're just not sold at those prices in the market by dealers.
Ainslie sell for well over $10AUD for a single or roll of coins AUD spot is currently $21.44AUD Ainslie are selling a single 2013 1oz coin for $35AUD https://www.ainsliebullion.com.au/BuyBullion.aspx They are selling rolls of 20 for $678.31 or $33.92. Also...add delivery onto those figures. Images are of 2011 Koala's but.....................
You mean US dollar value, spot price is over AU$23 and conquering AU$24 by the end of the week! I bought some 1oz Koalas from Bullionlist on 3rd July for AU$25.93 (spot was AU$21.33) They do cost more from Perth Mint.
Not sure that's right.. Here in Sydney the shops that sell bullion have the 2013 koala for $40 , the snake at $50 and the dragon with privy for $60 So the LCS and bullion shops have hefty mark ups here... I noticed this in other cities also..I think people that don't know better are paying at least $10 over spot.. They may be locals with knowledge of coins but just have enough to bu one at a time and want the latest coins People will get rped off if they don't shop around... And Never pay retail 1for1
