http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/michaelsilbermans/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 I don't understand who supplies this guy, I've never seen coins that look like this.
I'd say it's after-sales gilding - he buys the regular bullion coins/rounds from mints and dealers, then does the gilding himself (or contracts someone to do it).
 He makes them himself :/ A clad XAG round made it's way back to Goldstackers , the guy was rather upset that it wasn't worth a premium
So this is do it yourself gilding, and people are paying 100s for Eagles.. The coins don't even look nice.. WHY are people buying these..
http://www.ehow.com/way_5603102_do-yourself-gold-plating.html#page=1 Because most wouldn't know how to do it or couldn't be bothered, especially if they just want the one. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. It's always the gildeds that get the most attention when I take out coins to show friends, I think the contrast makes it all, like, pretty and stuff
I was intrested in the premiums these guys were getting for circ grade bullion, very bling. So looked into ther ebay purchases n find polishing paste, gold solution n gear theyve bought on ebay. Hey hats off.....
Its pretty easy really, you can make your own Gilded Lunars, Kookaburras or whatever your fancy...
Hi All, I like the idea of "making some one off's" just for me. This process could also be used to make fantasy pieces too getting high volume cheap coins from recent history and guilding them! Don't know how others would take to the idea but might be fun seein what can be produced with a wee bit of thought and skill?
