I reckon weve already done this, then GP deleted a pile of unused/spam accounts and took the mem numbers back down around 5000.
So the old/unused/spam accounts do get deleted eventually? Ive always wondered why theres over 5k+ members on here(SS),but hardly any more ranging from 1-230ish online at one given time. Just interested to see how many people are out there who are stackers or have a interest in precious metals versus the rest of the population. Im assuming most Australians who have a interest in Pm's are registered with Ss in or lurk regularly . Just seems like we really are a minority on here,if we do have only 5k+ members. Even taking into account that some of our members are from the Uk,ASIA,USA etc

I'm planning to start it watching for last few weeks. Main actor was supposedly so popular in GB, he needed to move out.
Let's work out some crude numbers on how many people stack, going by how many members are here for Australia only. Let's assume of the 6k members 5k are from Oz. Australia population is 22 million, now let's just count people from say 20 - 55 years old (as they would be the most likely to jump onto a forum). According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics about 66% are 15-64, so lets call it say 50% between 20-55. (again VERY crude numbers) So that's 11 million people in Oz that are both capable of stacking and jumping onto a forum. So that's 1 in every 2200 people! But let's assume that some people that stack don't want to go onto a forum, so for every 1 person here there are 3 others that are not. So that bring us to 1 in every 550 people (about 20,000 people). Be interesting to see what you guys think? Am i way over or under estimating or about what you would think? A more interesting number is on a global scale So world population is 7 billion, and say 1 in every 100 people decide they want to buy gold. That's 70 million people and then on average each of them have 10oz. Now that's just over 20,000 Metric Tons!
Not sure how you got 1 in 2200 people, as 100/(5000/11000000) = 220000; any ideas? I'd also try and take into account the amount of people who have access to the internet. There's roughly 12.2 million internet subscribers (though, there's libraries, family homes and whatnot; but we often have multiple connections, phones etc.) - so let's just assume (again, ROUGH) 12.2million australians have access to an internet connection. Basing on your stats, 50% of people are aged between 20 and 55, so that brings it down to 6.1 million. So that's 27% of the population. Of that 27%, we're assuming 5000 people are on SilverStackers. That's 0.08% of 6.1 million. So if you extrapolate that percentage back out to our entire population (to cater for those without the internets), you've got 17, 600 people, or roughly 1:1250 nationally. Pure speculation on my behalf thinks your one in every 550 people is too high, but mine might be too low. My maths isn't the best, especially at the end of the day, feel free to correct me (and explain why I'm a dolt and got 220000 for you).
Not sure why you're dividing it by 100, as I was using the "1 in 100" in the 2nd (global) example and not in the 1st (AUS) example.... No, there are 12.2million internet connections. Almost everyone in Australia has access to internet. You don't need to have an internet connection under your name in order to use it. (e.g in a family of 6 there are 6 people using the internet but only 1 connection) No that leaves it at 50% of the population which is 11 million, as i would assume most that have an internet connection would be in that age group. Your maths is fine, but your comprehension is not.
