Typical newbie question I am sure

    I read about the US coins being worth more for metal content then face value. Your lucky there also.
    Isnt there talk of passing a law to change the coins to some other metal to reduce the cost of minting?

    We had copper coins once upon a time. Been many years since they disappeared.

    there metal changes in dimes , quarters and halfs in 65. In 83, they switched pennies over to copper plated zinc. Nickels still have value, but there is talk to making them out of stainless steel
