8 Reales (Pieces of eight) is my favourite due to the history behind it, association with pirates and the one I have is over 200 years old yet still in excellent condition. The "piece of eight" was so-called because the denomination was divided into eight silver reales (8 reales = 1 silver peso.
One of my favourites - at least as far as Australian coinage goes. Great back-story and a really beautiful design. Very much hope I can own one one-day.
I like this one because it has been around for longer than my brain can comprehend. Cn Domitius Ahenobarbus Denarius 116-115 B.C. Roman Republic
Very nice coins so far. I will probably paste my "favorite" next week (hopefully). Can you please write also some data like year of the issue (if not on coin), mintage, etc. @wrcmad: I would love to have some coins from Roman Empire/Republic. I'm especially interesting in coins with Julius Caesar and some other Imperators. Jcoin's coin is really great. @spannermonkey: also very interesting coin. 2 headed eagle is very nice itself. @cabaretvolt: much nicer than most of the Lunar dragon coins. @bordsilver: how many were made?
Good idea. All of the XAG (intrinsic tender) coins in the image were released in 2012. In terms of the Mirror Ram's (or shillings) the declared mintages are that there were just 25 mirror/frosted and 12 double mirror made. In terms of the others pictured, the declared mintages were: Silver Stacker XAG Penny Double Mirror - mintage 500 Silver Stacker XAG Penny Mirror/Frosted - mintage 500 Silver Stacker XAG Shilling Double Frosted - mintage 300
