I only heard the news on my way to work and by the time I got my computer on there was already an advert for the first of the Royal Baby commemoratives! They work fast these days! At least with this one the Royal Mint didn't have to worry about getting the likeness right Source: http://www.eurocollections.com/store/product.asp?id=7588 That being said, it's apparently the first time the sovereign design has been struck in silver in over 100 years, that's a bit special
The sovereign design is a time-honored winner and this is a great-looking coin, but that $150 price is just deadly. Royal Mint pricing is badly disconnected from reality. I'd love to have one, but at this price I just can't. Maybe enough Brits will be caught up in the upcoming tide of Royal Baby Fever to make the coin a winner, but I doubt it'll sell widely outside of the UK at that price. Edit: Just noticed it's only .925, too. That's a letdown, after they just upgraded the Britannias to .999...
LOL. Pays to check before you jump to conclusions. Got to say when i clicked on this thread i was half expecting to see some horrible baby depiction. This, imo, is a happy surprise!
P I was expecting a baby on the coin like all the other Royal commerative stuff I think it was just an excuse to put the words " BABY COIN " on the COA
Ha ha! "A dragon is a legendary creature, typically with serpentine or reptilian traits, that features in the myths of many cultures..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon
I have a slight regret of not buying the sovereign one but this one release by Perth make Kate look fugly. Waiting for what the RCM one look like. They are releasing theirs set today
I'd love an annual 5 pound silver crown issue from the gb mint.. Would need to be under $5 over spot.. Til then ill get the antique ones
My thoughts exactly. Also the princes' teeth look like those chompers from that tall guy Jaws in the James Bond movies. I wont be buying the Perth coin but I would buy the pommie version - if the price was halved.
These ones are pretty nice, from the royal canadian mint http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/fine-silver-coin-royal-infant-with-toys-2013-prod1690039#.UgjslKw-Dq0 http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/20-fi...3-prod1690038?o_action=crossSell#.Ugjs2aw-Dq0
Nice enough looking coins, but really just generic baby birth coins as no mention of Royal Baby's name or anything. Hardly a Royal commerative like its being touted as. Open to public now and not selling to well.
