Anyone got any further info about this coin? It's been up on NZ Mint's website for a while saying it's "Coming in June". I'm really keen to grab myself one and looking forward to seeing the type of crazy presentation NZ come up with! Badhamny, indeed he was nailed cross, for which I'm eternally grateful, because he will no longer use a hammer on me, but for you? Perhaps.
Oh I'm Sorry, my signature has what to do with the Doctor Who coin discussion?...tsk, tsk, zealot thumpers are so easily offended hmmm.
Oh, I'm just bored on a Sunday night. LOL. Not offended in the least. I don't answer for your words or actions. best of success to you. Bob A
I've just got mine. It's not 1 per person either. I hope I haven't paid more through PM since I am in NZ at the moment!
No you didn't. Just prior to the release, NZ Mint had it listed at nz$155. The price surprised me as well as did the lack of limit per customer. All that and I didn't bother since they mentioned the Eleven Doctor set
I now really want that set! I don't collect numis but I have turned down dates with hot women to stay home and watch Dr Who. I am so sad!
Hi All Here is the Media release which should clear up any questions. And yes we are aware there will be a 12th Doctor. Hope this helps. Ron Currie Monday 17 June 2013 MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT DOCTOR WHO'S TARDIS LANDS IN AUSTRALIA ON TRIBUTE COIN The Perth Mint has struck a stunning silver tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, the World's longest running sci-fi show. Appointed as the sole Australian distributor of the Doctor Who commemorative coin on behalf of New Zealand Mint, the local institution will produce the 1oz 99.9% pure silver coin which portrays a sculptured representation of the iconic TARDIS the Doctor's extraordinary ship which is bigger in the inside than the outside against a coloured background which represents multi-dimensional travel. A frosted border which carries the inscription DOCTOR WHO 50TH ANNIVERSARY 1963 2013 completes the mesmerising design. Released by New Zealand Mint under official licence of BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand, the anniversary commemorative coin is issued as legal tender of the South Pacific island nation of Niue and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2013 year-date and the monetary denomination on the obverse. "As the exclusive supplier of this product in Australia, we will be able to bring this fantastic product to Doctor Who fans and coin collectors across the nation," said Ron Currie, Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director. "It is an historic year for the Doctor Who brand, and we are pleased that The Perth Mint is on board to bring this unique product to Doctor Who fans and coin collectors across Australia," said Rachael Hammond, BBC Worldwide ANZ's Senior Licensing Executive, Consumer Products.
