    Haha i hope fake silver bars are made at a loss now with the recent price drop in silver.

    Hopefully the fakers stop making them.

    Anyone care to guesstimate the apropreate cost of faking a 10oz to 100oz bar that could trick a xrf (2mm thick silver plate)?

    If the market keeps going the way it has, soon the fake bars will be worth more than the silver ones...

    why do you say its not a good idea?

    cause as long as i know its fake, and i dont try and sell it as real silver, then there should be no problem

    i have some fake gold and platinum for my daughter, and she loves them

    Think like a thief
    * Opens your fake safe
    * Finds your fake gold and silver bars
    * Goes to sell them to someone
    * Thief finds out they are fake
    * Thief wonders why you had fake bars in your safe
    * Goes back to find the REAL bars in the REAL safe. This time won't be so patient.

    I wouldn't trade with you if I knew you were holding fake anything.even if you promised not to send them to me.

    Anybody who's smart enough to get into your "decoy safe" and find your "decoy" fake bars is probably also smart enough to recognize a "decoy safe" and "decoy" fake bars for what they are right on the spot. Why would you think that a person like that would be only just smart enough to get into the "decoy safe" and grab the "decoy" fake bars but too stupid to figure anything else out? What causes you to think there's some invisible boundary that those operators are incapable of seeing or thinking beyond?

    Owing to previous career activities as one of the "good guys", I had extensive dealings with those operators for a long time. My eval of them is that a small percentage of them are too dumb to come in out of the rain. Those bozos trip over their own feet and get removed from circulation quickly. However, a lot of them are actually surprisingly smart. They choose their targets well and time their hits well. They do their thing efficiently, effectively, quickly and get away clean without leaving their business cards behind. They know what they're doing, they're good at it and the odds they'll be fooled by a "decoy safe" and "decoy" fake bars are close to zero.

    You're underestimating the enemy, you're overestimating how clever you are and whatever money you spend on a "decoy safe" and "decoy" fake bars will most likely be wasted money.
