I was always looking to the A$ to gauge when the bull market may be winding down, however the $A has stayed steady through the carnage. THe only thing we can hope for if the bull market is over, is for the $A to fall to cushion the blow. Unfortunately that doesnt look feasible ATM. Dont know where to tip the fiat right now
The answer may lay in the current Chinese growth figures. These figures are down and below expectations. The AUD dropped 2 cents, Aussie mining stocks are down. Labor party is ripping the guts out of our economy with a number of time bombs built in to sabotage the next leadership. We may now be about to catch up with the rest of the world's negativism and take off our rose coloured glasses. We won't join the PIIGS but I'm sure we have a number of years of belt tightening ahead of us. At SS we at least have a think tank of forward thinking individuals, and how we assimilate the comments from the forum should keep many of us ahead of the game.
Bank deposits are still paying 5%, or if you feel you can handle more risk, bank or Telstra shares paying dividends, property trusts or property, etc, etc. All solid income generating assets.
Yeah ...most of the bigger banks will give you around that. At least it outpaces inflation and is reasonably at call in some styles of accounts. When things are weird, sometimes staying liquid is not such a bad thing. When things look a little better you can always buy in again. Only the brave and the stupid try to pick absolute bottoms and tops (unless you're 'connected' and then you're a crook  )
nice work, may i ask what price you got? i just grabbed 250x 50c @$8.02ea I took the same guess. I sold out a bunch of metal for my house reno a few days ago and got a great price, now the price has dropped so far im buying it back with change.
cool, i found a dealer that locks the metal price in at 9:30am ank keeps it like that all day. Can be useful when the dealer 2 shops down updates every 15 mins
hahaha i just went through the coins looking for double bar ones and one coin was not a aussie 50c!!! SHOCK. thankfully it was a 1966 south africa 1 rand. woot small win for me cause its worth more than a aussie 50c
