Hi Gang! My name is Scott. I am from British Columbia, Canada. I have just recently got into buying silver. Learning a lot from forums like this and I am happy to join up and learn more. I have been buying 10 oz silver bars from a local bullion dealer in Canada and so far, I have really enjoyed building up my stacks! My initial reason for getting into this was that my wife and I are horrible at saving money. I have been a collector of many different things over the years, but never a saver. I find that by refocusing my "collecting" habit towards PMs, I am in a real sense saving money. Plus, it has the added benefits of being a very liquid asset that I can re-sell if I run into financial trouble. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I look forward to reading/learning/chatting more with you soon. Scott (Oh...one question. Is there a particular reason why so many members seem to be from Australia? Just curious.)
Welcome Scott, hope youve jumped on board at the right time Im sure the amount of experience the guys have on this site will help you with any question. Hope your silver experience is a great 1
Hi Scott, welcome aboard. The site is Oz based and subsequently most users are from 'down under'. Having said that, there are lots of members from all over the globe. Regards from the UK. Lurkalot.
Welcome Scott! Nice to see a newbie neighbor, I live on the outskirts of Seattle. I collect for the same reasons, paper currency burns holes in my pockets if it sits there to long, silver seems to stick around longer. Also, its addicting, walked into my local coin shop an hour ago and saw a huge allotment of freshly arrived Pandas, man they are beautiful trying to scramble to come up with some quick cash to buy them all.
Thanks for the greetings and information, everyone. Sbuell20, good to hear from another West (or is that "wet"?) Coaster. I am buying from a local store in Vancouver and have been very happy with their prices/service. I checked a few others, but the only ones I find cheaper I have to have shipped to me which kills any savings. It is great to be able to pop in on my lunch break and grab some silver! http://www.vbce.ca/rates/precious-metals (Is it wrong to post other websites on here?)
Hey Scott, Consider yourself lucky that you can drop into your local bullion shop to browse. I have to go online... which is good for this site's sponsors i guess.
Hi Scott, I am a new member also! I first bought silver because I had extra cash and wanted a little insurance policy. I managed to accumulate 602 ounces before my brother introduced me to the shooting sports. That caused me to fall in love with firearms and I now own 77 rifles and handguns. A few years ago I sold the silver to acquire more firearms and am now just starting to acquire silver again. I only have a few ounces today but plan on building on that week by week. Wish I had never sold, but live and learn.
77 guns...??? Wish Bryant never gave the Australian government an excuse to justify the firearm buyback aka seizure.
Hello Scott! Same here, I started with 10 oz bars and a roll of eagles. Now I'm into proof coins. OCD is fun when you collect real money lol i think you did the right thing you sold silver, to buy guns. guns are now more expensive due to the gun law fear, silver went down. you won! and still smart enough to buy more silver. you could probably sell some guns and buy silver with the money and then later, buy those guns cheaper if no laws are passed.
