Hi all, I have a question, as USPS is Americas version of Auspost in Australia, and most international couriers (fedex, DHL, UPS, etc) refuse to deliver parcels to AusPost PO Boxes. If I were to use USPS to send a Bullion package to Australia from the USA e.g. a 100oz bar, will they deliver to a Auspost PO Box, as typically they are not a 3rd party courier. I ask this query as i am tired of constantly missing out on bullion parcels and couriers, and being paranoid about a missing international parcel. And am thinking of just getting a PO Box to get my goodies sent to from the USA.
An emphatic yes - from first hand experience. Edit to add - I have never had problems with DHL or UPS either?
Yes. All the national postal services co-operate with each other and deliver letters and parcels for each other. It's actually one of the oldest international treaties still in existence.
Thanks guys, i searched high and low on google and couldnt find an answer. So as of tomorrow ill be attempting to get a PO Box around my local area, and then vowing only to use USPS to direct mail from the USA to my Australian PO Box!
Interesting, I've noticed that US prices for silver are generally lower. Are you doing this to save money? Who as an example would you be ordering through?
And it's bringing Australia Post undone. They only get paid for parcels going outwards, not incoming. So with the orgy of overseas retail purchasing going on in Australia Australia Post spends a fortune handling and distributing a tsunami of incoming parcels basically for free.
You see trouble, AusPost sees opportunity. http://auspost.com.au/about-us/australia-post-increases-profit.html
Just received a USPS item today. IMO USPS parcels arrive much quicker than parcels from China, and sometimes quicker than items posted within Australia.
Ditto. According to the tracking, it took one day to get to their International Handling facility but it then took 11 days to get to my PO Box. I typically get stuff from France within 7 days.
To reiterate; USPS will deliver to PO boxes as it is a standard mail carrier. UPS / DHL / TNT / other couriers will not [normally]. One way around this addressing the package to the post office itself, but probably not the best solution. I shipped about 15,000 parcels around the world last year [air mail, containers and so on], so if you have any questions about freight or logistics be sure to ask me!
