It's a good point about USD. Still think they will link it to terrorists (without any evidence) and raise a public outcry for bitcoin to be banned. Come to think of it, this will push bitcoin underground & the price might go to the moon! Guess what I'm buying tonight
when buying whitegoods, cars etc. You can get better discounts for cash............. This isnt the case anymore. I have sold both white good and cars a few years back and they dont want your cash, they want you to sign up for credit. We used to knock money off the cost of cars and whitegoods etc to lure people into a credit contract. Bloody Con men I know.
In Britain a lot of smaller shops won't accept 50 notes. No one really uses them, I think I have handled one my entire life, and then only for a short time, ATMs don't issue them, and the shop keepers are all worried about forgeries, plus they don't want to give you all their 10s and 20s in change.
Goodness! I was in Europe last year and around places like France, Spain and Italy no-one (shops, restaurants, taxis) wanted to even break a 20 euro bill. You want to pay for that coffee and whip out a twenty - it's like the world is ending!!! Never happens here in Oz even with $100 notes. Got forbid if I tried to use a EUR50 note. I'm guessing everyone just carries bags of coins around - jingling all the way.
Excellent debate guys Thanks. The key point Raised i guess is that it really is simply a matter of diversification.
electronic/treaceable transactions are for mugz who don't mind being screwed over by gubmint and the bankers. cash is king!
Have you paid all your taxes? Have you declared all of your capital gains? Have you ever purchased metal on SS? Have you ever taken cash in the hand? LOL Hypocrite! You take when it's convenient sunny!
I was referring to this article that was mentioned in another thread somewhere http://www.smh.com.au/national/hoarding-100s-to-ensure-a-pension-20120924-26hrq.html
Ya try to help some people and open their eyes but noooooooooooo...... What a waste of a post Holdfast, why not pm me with your comment instead of showing the forum your colors
"The Reserve Bank of Australia defines the monetary aggregates as:[30] M1: currency bank + current deposits of the private non-bank sector M3: M1 + all other bank deposits of the private non-bank sector Broad Money: M3 + borrowings from the private sector by NBFIs, less the latter's holdings of currency and bank deposits Money Base: holdings of notes and coins by the private sector plus deposits of banks with the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and other RBA liabilities to the private non-bank sector" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_supply Got physical?
I try and use cash with big retailers especially the supermarkets so they don't have a record of what i buy. I don't want my buying habits tracked and collated into targetted advertising in future. Same for making transactions through my phone or a chip in my hand or a swanky hat. You don't know who is using the information you're providing. Small shops it's more convenient to use cash and I'm finding people who hold on to their Sign only credit cards are the slowest people to be behind in the shopping line. In the UK how bad is it when you try to use any denomination of Scottish note in England, or even worse, Northern Irish. The shopkeepers almost go pale when you try use them, and it's all the same currency anyway!!
I generally only pay in cash when I don't want the Mrs knowing what I'm spending it on. I then spend the next few days fixing things around the house or take her out for a nice dinner or two to soften the blow when she takes a look at the statement online or goes the ATM.
My point exactly. The .U.S solves its fiscal mismanagement and Wall streets gross lack of regulation by simply typing a few more zeros to their debt. Lets give this a go shall we. $1,000,000.00 Anyone is welcome to use the above listed number and try to purchase something with it. Let me know how you go..
