Not many sales to get figures, have 60 of each and I'm trying to figure out what to sell them for. thanks!
For the 2008 Kookaburra, you could use ebay's completed listings to get an idea. If you scroll down to wards the bottom of this link, it will give you some prices. http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...s=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=200 This one sold for $115 AUD ebay 271140195268 This seems to be the average price - ebay 330836470353 (AU $64.95+AU $6.95 postage) This will give you an idea for the 1991 Kooks http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Coins-/1...plete=1&_okw=&_nkw=1991+Kookaburra+coin&rt=nc Cheers
as I said many times...for the right buyers worth anything just from memory, spanner sold a 91 for around $60..wasn't a re-strike though but still....
Most of us work for ebay  Their fees are rediculous. Those stats take about 15 seconds to acomplish...here try it. Cheers
Check out these for the 2008 1 oz Kookaburra http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Austra...0195268?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item3f21370bc4 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Aust...70979206986?pt=Bullion_US&hash=item27cf27a74a http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Kookab...7938961?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item484f4aab91 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271144202805 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130839556660 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130838494760 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271143813723 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251218399616
Given they are for sale at apmex for under $USD 60 something seems amiss here. Apmex are usually the first to push their prices sky high ahead of ebay prices.
15 seconds, that is so yesterday. That is the way I used to search previous sales, but now there is an easier way. Just type in a regular search like "2008 silver lunar mouse" and then choose "sold listings".
Could you please explain to the forum how you determined this amount. The apmex website shows no inventory for sale of the 2008 . I frequently view the quotes for the 1 oz Kookaburra's and the 2008 has been priced at 144.00 US prior to no stock available. This quote is prior to shipping so if a buyer desires to purchase only one 1 oz 2008 Kookaburra he is looking at the wrong side of 144.00+25.00 shipping =169.00. Once again I pose the inquiry where did you get the idea of 60.00. I am aware that apmex did or does have some 2008 Kookaburra available that are less then perfect for a substancial mark down, perhaps this is the coin that you are referring to , with all respect!! Remember ebay sales are quite transparent it is simply sale + shipping if there is any. Wheareas apmex you have to hunt down the shipping rates as well as difference in payment if you settle in cash or credit card. http://www.apmex.com/Category/526/Australian_Silver_Kookaburras_2013__Prior_1_oz.aspx
Lets all keep an eye on this auction to determine the value of a 2008 Kookaburra 1 oz http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-AUSTRA...5511348?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item5652278db4
I like the idea House .. reckon this will sway roman to sell his swag of 2008 Kooks for 34 a pop ?
haha, not likely. Someone offered to buy the lot for $55 each. As it stands right now I'll probably hold onto them for awhile longer, there's no reason they can't appreciate in value even more. They'll find their way to the sales thread at some point though.
And appreciate they will. They made Perth's Best Modern Coin list. http://blog.perthmint.com.au/2012/11/16/are-these-the-perth-mints-best-modern-releases/#comments
The $115 is for a gilded one. Why should 2008 Kooks be any more expensive than other Kooks? There are still dealers that sell them for the same price. The Modern coin list doesn't mean much, some of these coins are very bad performers
To be honest that's why I started this thread - I don't get it either. I understand why the 91s command a premium as there are only a few remints around in the grand scheme of things, but coins like the 08 & 09 were fully minted not too long ago. Short of some investor cornering the market I really don't understand the premiums some years command.
I honestly cannot understand the difference in premium as they are all minted to 300,000, they have exactly the same number as any other kook thus the premium makes no sense.
