Is it normal for ABC to run out of stock? They reckon they will have some more 10 oz bars by the end of this week. Anyone else having trouble getting silver?

    I didn't ask. :-/

I was so surprised to see them out of stock on such a basic item, and I don't really want to buy bigger than 10 oz size.

A lot of manufacturing and transport companies have been closed since the 21st of December and have only got back to normal operations today. I know where I work we always try to stockpile to meet the xmas demand in light of this, but you never can tell if enough is enough. I'd say they perhaps underestimated demand while their suppliers where closed for the break.

from what I've seen, 1/2kilo, kilo & 30kg make up their bread and butter trade...10oz are effectively exotics

No problems getting silver - but always problems having enough of everything everyone wants in stock 100% of the time. Was down to a single kilo bar in stock pre-Christmas because there was a run on that size - now we're swimming in them.

At AEJ in Hobart, was being told this goes like a hot cake...we always have difficulties keeping up with the demand. :D

Thats becuase all the smart people are getting the 10oz bars.. the perfect size to stack (weight and bulk) and to sell ($ value)

Also with the huge acklash agaienst PM people are fed up with coins and there premiums so the more are transistioning to bars.. this may be cyclical or a permanant phenomenon but it could account for the recent surge in 10oz bar popularity.. this is 100% in my case

OH.. also 1kg coins and 10oz coins.. i now buy the bars instrad whereas the last few years i was buying the coins... i clicked they are way to bulky to store and the trendies cry if the capsule is scratched etc so not worth the resale hassle.

According to their online store, Ainslie haven't had their own 1kg bars for sale since they reopened on Monday. Their only 1kg bars were Perth Mint.

I lived in Brisbane till late 2011 and always bought from Ainslie on a regular basis, in that time they never offered the 10oz but always ran out of 1kg and 1/2kg's.

    Doesn't seem unusual.

As of this evening, both 10oz and 1kg are showing as in stock.

Crying when capsule is scratched. Yep, dealing with shallow fetishists is exhausting and usually pointless. Highly irrational bunch.
