    Hi all

Sorry if this as a newbie question. I am wanting to buy 2 x 10z perth mint bars and I have narrowed it down to Bullion Bourse ( is there anyone else I am missing)?

Little nervous about my first purchase

Check site sponsors in your city as a viable alternative to dealers.

I agree with that. And then develop relationships with a few of them. By that I mean buy from a few of them and communicate.

There's one called Southwest Bullion, Ive brought some bullion of them. They do shipping. Then there's Bullion Bourse to.

At the LCS or local bullion shop, where else would you buy small dollar sums of silver?

For 2 bars, youll get slapped in the face to the tune around $15 postage! Slap.. by that time you might as well pay a premium and get it instantly.. unless you live in the whoop-whoops in which case you should try a SS

Hi. Seeing as you are in Canberra you can always go to Edlin's (in Civic between the Post Office and Westpac).

Unlike the dedicated dealers their stock is variable so they may or may not have Perth Mint bars at any given time. As has been pointed out however, often their direct price is roughly equivalent to the delivered price from the dealers (sometimes slightly more, sometimes slightly less) but without the risk of being lost in the post.

When I was living in Canberra they were my main source (besides carrying stuff back on the plane when I could visit a "real" dealer). You can phone them for their sell price and ask what sort of stock they have before heading in.

If selling, the downside is they have a fixed (large) margin essentially irrespective of the product. As a buyer the up side is that they typically have an eclectic range of stuff (basically whatever people have walked in and sold them) and you can get older bars/coins - even proof stuff - with no extra markup as it's all traded on a per ounce basis.

Its the same as buying Mars Bars from any of the big supermarket chains.
    Price check..
Make your way to the cheapest one who has the specials on the day.
    Then pay.
    Get a receipt.
Go home and enjoy your purchase.
Its a closely guarded secret here in the Precious Metals world.....but its really that simple...Now Shhhhh
    Keep that to yourself!
