Hi Been here a little while, but stacking since 2000 on and off. I was wondering how many British stackers are on here as I know this is very down under based. There is very little mention around British sales, issues etc. I was wondering if I was looking in the wrong place. Is there a British section/ forum I am not seeing. Quite envious of the setup you guys have down under. Thanks
Hi Gary I'm originally from Melbourne but have lived in the UK for more than eight years now. No doubt you're as frustrated as I am with 20% VAT that gets slapped on silver here. In saying that I received a small package of silver from Canada today, which Royal Mail had put a Charge sticker on slugging me for VAT + a generous 8 'International Handling Fee', which must have accidentally made it into the postman's deliveries today without having being paid. Despite boldly stating that the package cannot be delivered until the charges are paid, it still managed to find it's way into my mailbox. A small victory there. Even imported gifts valued at over 40 sent between private individuals will attract VAT the charge notice stipulates, which looks like a few people may get a nasty extra surprise along with their Christmas presents this month when they arrive.
There are more brits on this forum than any other country... closely followed by koalas, roos and dragooons.
THIS. I'm a Lanacshire lad - originally from Leigh, but stacking before I left the yUK. VAT sucks on silver - better off sticking with gold or premium flipping on coins back in the motherland...
You had a famous UK stacker here for a long time... Went by the name of ladybird...She knew a lot about silver in the UK. However, she slowly disappeared from view. Regards Errol 54
Lurkalot reporting for duty UK based. As for 'Ladybird'. she was attacked by a feral marauding haggis while out walking her dog on the wild and boggy Scottish highlands. Those who came to try and help said her final words were something like"it's all in PVC-free tubes under the creaky floorboard in the bathroom", before being dragged in to the boggy waste. Of course, the above may be a load of old tosh.
Loggin' in from the UK also and a stacker with a bad habit of watching this forum more than once a day as it has become addictive and I am hooked. Real bummer about the VAT on silver but this is factored into the price if reselling ( eBay for example ) but excluding the shops and dealers though. Look out for the UK & Europe section on buying and selling on this site.
Jesus, Never thought I'd see a Lad from Barbarellas or the Spinning Jenny in here. Its a small world after All.
Another UK stacker, although just a modest stack, buy a few bars now and then when I have the spare cash.
Well good to see a few local stackers on here. Perhaps we need our own slot on here and get some uk dealers to join. Yes silver a total rip off, but ways around it. A holiday to guernsey or order from Germany. Guernsey mint cheapest for gold with postage included.
