Hi all Just joined today, I am from Tauranga in New Zealand. Have been downloading as much information as I can re silver the last week, my head is about to explode This site for sure seems the best resource I have come across, big thank you to all of you. I am buying silver because I want to preserve my wealth, as little as it may be at the moment Looking forward to the end of Fiat currency and the move back to tangible assets. Anyhow nice to meet you all, I am looking at buying 150-200 oz as my first investment. I am still mulling through all the various options (New Zealand dealers seem to have some very high premiums). I have a brother in Melbourne who is coming home for Christmas, I may look at getting him to buy in Melbourne and bringing it back across the ditch with him, been reading some very informative threads already on here today about taking silver through customs. Anyhow again nice to meet you haha enjoy your day. Edwin
...and if nothing else you can substitute "Aussie" and tell them to your mates. Love some of the NZ Mint designs. Very good quality. Welcome.
Hi Ed, I'm more or less in the same boat as you with the NZ Bullion Dealers. Every now and again you get a decent deal on Trademe but they are far and few between and you have to hunt and fight for them = pain in butt! It would be nice if we had a local dealer with decent rates eh? In any case you're in the right place now and you have plenty of options. Have fun!
Kia ora bro. Use might just find theres a few cousins over here that got on board a wee bit befor you. BTW u know any one from Te Puke or u just know the Te Puke thunder.
Hi there enzedbullion Yea tell me about it, I searched for ages trying to find a decent NZ dealer. Some of their premiums are crazy. I have found two decent ones, www.bulliondeals.co.nz and bullionnz.com. They seem to be a bit cheaper than the other ones here. They guy at bullionnz seems pretty cruisy also. I have a friend who has brought from them and been able to negotiate a price closer to spot. I think I will make my first ever silver purchase from Apmex though. I really want to buy 200 oz of 1 oz coins, rather the smaller denominations in case we get to that point in our future where I actually have to trade them for petrol etc I have found the cheapest place I can get a deal on coins is on Apmex, the apmex coin. I don't really care about collectors value or anything, just silver content, although I hear silver is pretty addicting, so once I actually physically touch the coin I may want to start buying something more pretty haha. I have signed up to NZforex, thanks to reading a thread on this site. Through them I get my first two international transactions free, so I look forward to making my big purchase fee free But once I have used those two transactions I wish a NZ dealer could offer a bit cheaper, so I don't get charged with the currency conversion fees etc. It's funny cause I rung the guy from bulliondeals in New zealand and asked if he could match the price Apmex was selling for. He said he could not, but said that it would not work out any cheaper for me because I get charged some random duty fee of 6% on all silver once it gets into New Zealand. Really not sure what he is on about though, as I have rung customs and they have assured me there are no charges, and don't pay GST because it's "investor grade 99.9 bullion". So not sure if the guy is confused or he is trying to jib me haha, I will give him a call back and see what he has to say though. Keep me posted if you see any good deals in NZ. I plan to use this site more to pick up deals closer to spot after I have made my first purchase. Again thanks to all and this great site
