Perth Meeting for 2013 ?

***Perth Meeting***

It is sad that we can't organize a single yearly meeting in Perth. I see the other states organize monthly meetings and here we have problems once a year?

I have been in communication for some time with a well know US based Financial commentator who has a great website that many of you listen to. He is prepared to do a talk for us and answer questions we may have for him, some time early next year.

Clearly we need a venue and I am happy to provide the Computer and sound equipment. It was proposed to do this live but realistically with time differences and the need for HS internet it may be simpler to do this pre-recorded. 2 weeks prior to the meeting we can send him our questions which he will attempt to answer these following a 10 minute talk.

PradoEagle indicated that to hire a suitable central air-conditioned venue is about $250-300 which means that depending on numbers there will be a cost of $10-20/person.

This presentation can be followed by our usual auction.

If this is to progress we need firm commitment to having such a meeting so that PE or I dont get stuck with a $300 bill and no questions for our guest?

Wow that's atrocious! Maybe it's a bad time because of holidays etc?

 

I agree - The meeting can be held in Feb or March after the holidays. I just need to confirm the booking and get the speaker to agree. I believe that a live link is too complicated and will propose (if our Perth SS want it) that our members send me questions on PM and investing in PM that are forwarded to our guest who will prepare a presenation answering the questions as well as giving us a talk.

The cover charge is only to pay for the venue.

I will be there assuming other commitments do not conflict.

In regards to the auction I guess everyone wants a bargain but the offers appeared quite low the previous times I have been which would make me hesitant to put up items for auction.

 

I'm in if there's no roster conflict.

 

Im all over the place at the moment so not 100% sure where I will be on date of meeting. Will definitely be there if im in town

 

Planning for the first weekend in March which is the labour day weekend or the following weekend 9th. Will ask for preferences soon.

Count me in. Same issue with dates though due to rosters.

 

I'm off on the weekend of the 9th Ronnie, just as a heads up. Fist weekend I'm working.

 

My feeling is to have the meeting on the 9th as some people will be away on the long weekend (2nd).
