Anyone know of a good glue remover ?? Anyhow, do you think it was a good buy, regardless of the extra addition ?
It looks like one of the fake chinese copies to me, very little detail in the rider and the horse. Just MHO.
Actually after a closer look I am 99.9% sure its a fake Sorry, but not a great loss of money so not an expensive lesson
... rubbing salt in the wound Seller has reluctantly agreed to cancel the sale ... lets see if I get any money refunded LESSON LEARNT!
They have a returns policy if you are not 100% satisfied, might be worth trying that before they even send it out to you. Will save on the return postage at least. Otherwise isopropyl alcohol or acetone will remove the glue without damaging the coin. Then you can weigh it.
Thanks mate, I asked the guy if his returns policy was worth anything .. then said if it is then just cancel the sale.
about 5 years ago these were being sold as real coins on eBay and i seen about 15 or so get sold for big money , not sure of the final outcome for buyers but a lot got burnt, this is one of those coins with a stick pin glued on the back, i wouldn't be to worried at least you didn't pay $$$$$$
There was a heap that came out last year and were sold on ebay. Here is a article and a comparison http://www.australian-threepence.co...ng-a-counterfeit-193435-centenary-florin.html
Have agreed to cancel the sale .. see if I get any money back now. Never had to deal with ebay Resolution centre before ..
He's selling heaps of copy coins/noveltys, which are banned on Ebay, just report item for full refund.
Update: Paypal finally repaid late this afternoon, about 20 mins after I raised a report with Paypal directly (funnily enough). Would be nice if ebay placed a blanket ban on these clowns in the coins section, I am so fed up of seeing 999 mills, german silver, tibetan silver etc etc. Even worse when the asshat on the other end of the phone tried to justify his activities. No doubt has had that particular conversation a few times before. As I said before ... Fingers (nearly) burnt, Lesson learnt!
