Not going to tell you anything regarding the amount, but the largest I ever intend to hold is 10 TOz bars, and even then only a few, I would rather have 1 TOz and fractional coins and bars

Its not the size that matters, its what you do with it that counts ;)

I went through the exact same experience myself when I asked a similar question as a newbie....and was equally puzzled by the sarcastic ( rude ? ) replies some people chose to throw at me. Fortunately, some were a little more understanding...but still, it pays to be aware that people hold their secrets ( and gold) very close to their chests...

First welcome, although I agree with the common theme that you are not welcome to any info on how much of anything I hold or where I keep it. But I really like the how big would you go? Part of your question.

There have been many discussions about ounce lumps vs fractional with many concerns about the liquidity of larger lumps. I would be very interested to hear opinions on how big people would go?

If I was to win lotto this weekend I would definitely look at a big lump. Probably go for $1million at the time of purchase and have it recast to a less obvious shape. Perhaps get a section of gold pipe made and installed but not connected to water supply, just to look like a section of copper pipe coming through a cupboard or something like this.
