Nano - Technology Chip on a coin, what is that?!!?!?! What do you think about the coin? I see a big potential and it is first of a series. Anyone knows the mint issuing these coins? Source: www.powercoin.it
Actually the chip insert is the "new stuff". On that chip is depicted a very high resolution image that could be seen at different details, with a magnifying glass or better with a microscope, and you can see the smallest details of a huge frescoes on a fingernail size. I think with bare eyes you can see only what is shown in second picture, the chip within fingers. On ebay there are two auctions already, and price is already too high, I would like to buy from mint but I don't know who issued this. Alex.
Pretty much all I found too. They're on pre-order for Dec but with only 999 being made, could be a good buy. Innovative idea but having to bring a microscope everywhere to show others the fresco and to appreciate the whole purpose of the nano chip is lost on me Still beats the hell ugly Dutch Mint QR code coin methinks [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/6531_royal-ducth-mint-5-euro-silver-qr-code-coin.jpg][/imgz]
high technology put in a coin, innovative & creative idea. some day they will put our DNA code in coin
On ebay I see 3 auctions, first one already reached US $385,00 (about 300,00 euro) so I think that for 250,00 could be a deal I think that the expensive part of this coin is not the silver. Who buy this coin is not for 25g silver like who buy a Gulo Gulo doesn't pay $1500.00+ for 1 ounce. Alex.
Here's another one http://www.powercoin.it/lang-en/coo...ur-hand-silver-coin-10-cook-islands-2012.html The silver is almost a by-product for these kinds of things, the small amount in it is to add a selling point. Otherwise it's just a microchip on dirt cheap alloy
I totally agree with you House. And I won't be surprised if this coin wins the "COTY - Coin of the Year" in the category most technological coin. I'll buy two now, one to keep and one to sell in the near future, I feel the price is going to sky rocket soon. Alex.
Maybe you both right, innovation is worth the price BTW - Recent price for gulo is 1.100 USD - last two actions on feebay (price is going down) http://www.ebay.com/itm/19074172492...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=190741724928&_rdc=1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/32100564626...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=321005646269&_rdc=1
Hi Acme, thanks for hint. I see it, also the COA is the same style. I wrote to BH-Mayer but I never got an answer to my mails. It seems they don't care to sell the coins they mint directly, but only through their distributors. Alex.
looks like you are right (earth nano coin): (...) the coin is minted by the mayer mint. collectors can purchase the series through specialty dealers (...)
I see the earth coin has recently appeared on euro collections... But the earth coin isn't the same series as the Sistine Chapel, just both happen to have Nano tech in them
The two coins are also connected by the two similar videos: Sistine Chapel Nano Coin: Earth Nano Coin: In my opinion this is definitely something new to inlaid in a coin, after so many swarovski, pearls, gemstones, meteorites etc. I also think that being the first coins to be issued with this technology, they will be also the most requested, if in the next years this technology will be common for many other coins. I bought two pieces each kind, one to keep and one to sell in the near future, possibily at a big price if I am right Alex.
