Can you people list, share your opinion which new coins could get a high premium in the short or long run? Right now i found this rwanda edition, the older ones have 100-300% premiums. Mintage of only 5000. Source: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-RWAN...7437523?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item1e7258bed3
Source: Texture looks very similar to the togrog coins. I think its already expensive... but who knows. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RED-SQUIR...2717247?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item51a2257ebf
Source: This looks very good and still cheap. Its 925 silver, and high mintage of 8000, but getting sold quiet quick. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARABIC-DA...7693535?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item3f19513adf
It is really easy to get stung buying numi's expecting a high premium later on down the track. Many people got burnt on the last Perth Mint dragon with crazy prices being paid upon release only to see a drop in price a few months later. If that is your thing tho I would buy direct from the mint rather than from places like Hong Kong ebay dealers and pick and choose very carefully, first of series and designs that have real meaning to people rather than piece meal commemorative things like royal familys etc. If speculating keep it real with regards to spot price two or three times spot is within reason but things like the Squirrel above I would steer clear of completely. I particularly like the Rwandan coin above, also like the belly dancer design but personally would stick with the pure silver and troy oz of the Rwandan coin. Do some research on high priced Numi's , the perth mint redback and tassie devil spring to mind, also the Nemo (lol) there are lots of hits and misses, good luck.
Yes i agree, most numismatics are over priced for any investment. The perth dragon actually was a good buy if you pre ordered. Will update this continuously as soon as i find something, and see what people think. Thanks for the infos.
Pandas seem to retain their premium, but like all other numis coins if you overpay you have a long uphill road to climb.
1 - I believe the OP is trying to pump up the hype of the two coins he listed 2 - I'm with SC on this one 3 - I believe "ALL" PM products will be a fizzler from here on in 4 - want to get into numi's trying your hand with older coins where your paying for the rarity 5 - Modern numi's is for speculators ,now with every man & his dog speculating NO collectables for me from here Round 50'c - 10oz bars & fractional gold
The only numismatic coin from the Perth Mint to hold up lately has been the Opal Koala. The last 5 or so on ebay have gone for over $250. I think the Opal Wombat may go the same way, am holding onto a couple.
Agreed, i believe this 1st coin this series will rise significantly in near future, not so sure about 2nd etc............
I don't think so. I think there might be an initial spike of the price but I don't think it will last long. It is probably good news if you own the Tasmanian Tiger.
I think Perth Mint forgot all about that series and when they saw the thread on SS asking where the next coin is, they just put something together quickly and called it the next coin in the series
