This forum looks very changed from when I last here 2 years or more ago

I was inquisitive to see what Australians think about guverment spying on its people? Is privacy rights respected in Australia from the guverment? Of course I do not mean if police investigate criminal suspect of serious crime and obtain judge permission to listen in to telephone or seize computer of suspect to obtain more evidence.

I refer to other state agencies - for example tax office ignoring privacy and spying on people via telephone, or internet records?
A example is if tax office ask to see all records of this forum is that allowed by your law?

That would require a court order.

I think we're probably behind the US and Europe in terms of government agencies trampling individual liberties, but 5 to 10 years from now we will be just as bad.

I love venting my frustrations with big government on here, but I realise this may draw unwanted attention to the forum.
Out of respect for my fellow stackers I for one intend to tone it down a bit going forward.

^^^ You mean only every second sentence will contain "turtling, idiotic, stupid, rotten, fraudulent, Ponzi, donkey, dumb, or similar" with only every fourth post being a one line "what horse manure" or "BS"

We can complain all we like here, free speech is still our right isnt it?
At the end of the day theres nothing to worry about unless your up to no good.
It seems Low lives have taken advantage of our system provoking Big Brother to limit our privacy.
Australia is still the best Country on Earth as far as im concerned.

    Just mt opinion :)

I decided some time ago to give up on raging against the growing Tyranny of big government and just
quiety prepare for what may come, i've taken what I think are reasonable steps in preparing for what
could be some pretty rough times ahead (I'm buying a BIG pile of long shelf-life food this weekend to
store at my remote property, in a currency collapse FOOD will become a big priority once the trucks
    stop rolling).

I think that one of the best things we can do is stack the precious physical metals and hopefully
come out the other side in as reasonable shape as we can.

I personally think that by and large, we are all entitled to be 'left alone'. I just want to be left
alone to live my life and love and care for my family as best as I can. I grow weary of the government
constantly seeking to intrude into every part of my life.

Well i would like to think so GP.
I know Penny Wong , Bob Brown and Julia Gillard get away with it.
