I got into buying bits of silver here and there just a few years ago. Found out today the missus is pregnant so will be needing money soon. Would make a reasonable profit but not great selling now. But thinking maybe its best to get out now. Mid-thirties is quite high now.
I started buying in the low to mid twenties. Silver seems bit volatile and i was hoping for bigger profits but a new mouth to feed speeds things up for me. Will need to look for a new place to stay with a kids room etc...I would make a profit now. Not much but hey....i'm thinking prices won't reach 40 in the next 9 months.
Sell it if you genuinely NEED the money, babies don't get much use out of silver bars/coins. But, if you can get more overtime, etc then better to do that than sell your silver
Firstly congrats. Secondly, it might be a good idea to hold onto some of you silver, rather than cash out the whole lot right now. You don't necessarily need to spend up big to get ready for the baby - I know its an exciting time, but as you probably realised it can end up being ridiculously expensive if you let it. Trust me you dont need brand new everything - there are excellent deals on second hand furniture about, and hand me downs can be a god send - but I do advise always buy a brand new mattress for the baby (never reuse an old one) and a brand new car-seat. Good luck, Au-
Hang onto your silver, you have months to prepare and the baby stage is the cheapest part, in five years time school starts . Think long term. P.S Congratulations .
Another way to look at it. If silver goes down and you really end up needing the cash badly, then you may have to sell at a loss. If you have made money out of silver then it has to be of benefit, even if you haven't made as much as you expected. =) Congratz and good luck.
Congratulations. I agree with Au-mageddon, you don't need much to keep the baby happy and definately do not need new and the best stuff. You have time. I'd recommend keeping the baby in your room for the first 6 months as it makes feeding easier. Maybe this can delay your silver sales. Modern cloth nappies will save you HEAPS of money and they are really easy to use. If you want more info look up http://nappynetwork.org.au/ See the Nappy FAQ Note the child with the pink nappy on the first page is mine. She was Miss September in the calendar in that photo If you want to ask me anything re nappies just fire me a PM. I love them (..okay that just sounds wierd).
If you have to sell silver to pay for having children, you are in a bad place. Children cost LOTS of money and you will be better holding onto your silver and cutting back somewhere else in your life. I've got three kids, and if I'd bought silver with the money I've spent on them, I'd be properly rich by now.
WTF? Isn't that why we all buy it? Have I got it wrong? I would have bought more alfoil if I wanted shiny stuff for no profit.
Will be needing a new place so thats why i'm thinking off cashing out. In a small 1 bedroom flat. Kids do grow.
Hellrider1...Don't forget you will get the baby bonus, $5000. Now that is a good little earner.. Spend it wisely and you will be ok. Regards Errol 43
STFU and go take your Med's loser. Seriously just because you cant conceive fornicating with wooden furniture or soft furnishings like butch it does not give you the right to dump on someones thread. Go drink some gutter water or eat a puffer fish and then wrap yourself in a sleeping bag and take a sauna or do something else productive. If you cant cope with a reasonable question then just flick your bean or something. (supposed to be helpful for bitter old lady's).
Thanks. Not sure i would qualify for the baby bonus. I'm a Brit National working here and my wife comes from a more conservative culture so we will go from 2 paychecks down to 1 once the kid is born. She refuses the daycare thing and doesn't want to work really. So yeah, thats why at least for me kids would be expensive. Might try to hang onto silver until its born but it hasn't cracked 40 bucks an ounce yet which is what i hoped for.
