Questions: Is there any info on mintage of these animals? ... Everywhere I look, I see - N/A sign. How good do they appreciate in value?
you are spot on , that whole series is WAY undervalued ,every time i see one graded 69 on e bay going for 60 , i just buy it
No idea on mintage numbers, even the mint itself and the experts don't know, but they are infrequently offered on ebay... the '95 small date is one of the stars of the whole Panda series and there's enough mystique/design differences between the '96 issues to warrant more than a passing interest. These were among the first Pandas I purchased, I'd follow jc8s lead and buy 'em when you can. As for do they appreciate in value, time will tell, I agree with JC they are undervalued as is the whole Panda market. Prices really have to rise, I cant see them going much lower personally.
Well, I just did and bought one, though it was ms67 ... payed $60 including shipping now I'm thinking if I should keep it or sell it for instant profit ... if for such a long time series is undervalued maybe there is something wrong with the series?!
Which coin did you buy? Is it Large/Small date? Any chance of posting a photo? The incredible rise in the Panda market meant that there had to be a pullback at some time, we're in that now. Most buyers are saturated now, there are more sellers than buyers or sellers not willing to take the hit with current lower prices. It's a classic market cycle, we need more buyers into the market to push prices up. Even the purchase of one or two very expensive coins can kindle a resurgence throughout the whole Panda market. I recommend you read badon's commentaries at livebusinesschat and join the chinese coin forum community. There is definitely nothing wrong with this series.
Great little coin there. Are you very new to Pandas? I think that 67 isn't a high grade for the price, however it is graded and that counts for something. My advice would be to remain patient and selective in your purchases, there are good deals to be had right now once you educate yourself.
I'm very new to panda and I think that I'll not jumpstart panda engine in me (my only reasoning that some day if I need it I'll buy collectible by selling some less bullion than today) ... well I bought this coin for several reasons: 1) cash my paypal account (I have it in USD, my bank account in JPY, transfer back to bank makes me loose some 2-3% on exchange rate + $4 (for the fees they take off me they could've cancel this 4 dollars))); 2) trade for other bullion with less premium over spot; Anyway I'm open to any advice or links where I can learn something new about coins. Maybe one day I'll become silver panda hunter, who knows ... for now, I'm just stacker with some collector interests
