Well I don't usually send mail registered post since I barely sell coins/bullion. I wanted to offload some coins and was able to sell a 2oz lunar rabbit. I assumed $5 registered would be enough since I see people everywhere offering $5-6 registered post on up to 5 1oz coins. I was charged $9.80 total, the receipt says: Regular 1-500g $6.60 (I assume this is the bag and getting it registered) PPL REG POST x 1 $3.20 What was the $3.20 for? Not a big deal but if I do decide to sell regularly it adds up, so can someone please clear this up for me? Cheers
http://auspost.com.au/products-and-services/postage-assessment-calculator.html Try this. Note that if you send as a "large letter" rather than a parcel it is much cheaper. Pack flat (less than 20mm) and it is much cheaper to send.
If you keep the package thin, you can send at 1.20 + 3.20 registered. In a padded envelope which is about 1.10 and without much packaging at all you can send for about 5.50 at post office shops. So you can send at least 4 loose 1oz coins this way. maybe 5 or 6 or more in the bigger padded bags.
I had the coin packed in a padded bag also with a bunch of foam wrapped around it which was quite thick, thicker then 20mm that's for sure. Do you guys suggest sending the coins loose in the padded bag or no?
I like to use a box for rolls and try to wrap coins at least once in thin bubble wrap, i have other foam that is a bit thinner from work also. I dont sell all that much to really know like some.
just use one layer of bubble wrap, individually on each coin then tape flat to a piece of cardboard. You should be able to keep it under the 20mm then, and they won't move around
yes, 1 layer of bubble wrap...if not just put it overnight under a heavy book...then tape it to the inside of envelope. I learn it the hard way too.
Someone here on Silver Stackers need to make up a reusable aluminum box with the exact largest dimension you can send as a large letter and with foam inserts for the standard 1 ounce PM coins in capsules. You know so it fits the max number of coins to keep below the max weight for a large letter. Do this and you will sell a LOT of them on this site! Just saying, heck I would be keen to buy a few of them, cost not too important because you can use these to swap coins so the other party just posts it back to you with the trading coins.
yes, because $6.60 is the package under 500g plus $3.20 for it to be registered. example i just send coin to dragafem, it was only 60cent and $3.20 to be registered. Registered = extra $3.20
