http://www.news.com.au/travel/news/...three-month-tour/story-e6frfq80-1226458892850 IT'S the race that stops a nation, but it seems the Melbourne Cup can also bring airport security to a standstill as well. There may not be any liquids, aerosols or gels in the suitcase, but when the Melbourne Cup trophy shows up on an x-ray at airport security it's sure to raise a few eyebrows. Source:
I was going to post this as well, but with a question - does anyone know if these scanners detect elemental gold, or density - or is stuff colour coded as above - gold in yellow. I went through Dubai and they picked up what I was carrying (gold) despite the small quantity. From what I gather it's ok to bring in gold into australia (if it's pure and not in coin form, then no currency value). of course some coins have a face value ($100 and $200 coins) although the gold is worth much more, so you could transport in $10000/$200 coins.
